  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Jer.20:7 O Lord, thou hast deceived me, and I was deceived.

Ezek.14:9 And if a prophet be deceived when he hath spoken a thing, I the Lord have deceived that prophet.

Do not think that I have come to bring peace on earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword." (Matthew 10:34)

2 Th.2:11 For this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie.

God is ultimately responsible for the goings on in his creation.

He is the great orchestrater who uses all things and all persons to implement his plan for salvation and the ridding eternity of the presence of evil.

Does God lie? No. Do prophets and people lie? Yes. He simply harnassed what is to serve him and his plans.

The charge in Jeremiah is not a theological indication but rather an example of God getting the blame. Note God is more tolerant than we think.

"I the Lord deceived..." once again, this is his taking ultimate responsibility for the goings on in his creation.

Example, "the Lord hardened Pharaoh's heart..." rather than the plagues of Egypt being like Lucy holding the football for Charlie Brown, God's offers for Pharaoh to repent relent etc... were real and genuine. What hardened his heart was the contents of his heart reacting to the goodness and sovereignty of God.

The same sun that melts the wax hardens the clay.
