I would never pray for someone in a meeting if I was not in relationship with the Pastor or organisers, unless I had a really clear direction from God.

There are some nutters about at these places, and I understand why people are careful.

Ihave never read a word he has written. I have only seen him on TV as we clicked past the channel.
I really do not know enough about him to give an opinion.

Okay, this is going to stir that pot a little!

I was speaking to an old friend recently about this thread as I knew she had some first hand knowledge about this chap. Some while back he came to the UK for a conference or somesuch and she was one of the party that was involved in playing host to him and his party. What she told me did nothing but confirm the 'problem' I have with him that I mentioned before. It was well known that he could be extremely demanding and fussy about hotel, food and service to such an extent that he would simply walk out if not satisfied - and I mean walk out of the committment. Thus the lass who booked the room was terrified she hadn't chosen a place good enough. This is not a second hand rumour, this came from the mouth of a lady who was present and heard these things herself.

Not surprisingly, she has no time for Hinn.

Well I was never really a Benny Hinn follower. I've seen a few of the televised stuff, but only skits here and there. My dad would watch the shows most of the time. But then I heard about all the prophecies he's made that never came true, and it just really made me question his credibility. People may get healed during his crusades, but that's God at work acting on the faith they bring, and it has nothing to do with Hinn at all. If he is either false or true, it makes no difference when someone who gets healed has a heart out for God. God reacts to faith in HIM, not faith in someone else. Hinn is just some sort of middle man, someone to actually see or something. But the people who get healed are still looking for God anyway. And I don't think God will hold back a healing from someone who has the faith for it, regardless if Hinn is there or not.

As I said, though, I haven't really habitually watched Hinn, and don't know much about him, other than the many accusations of him being a false prophet. And seeing as how I've read and heard the prophecies, I was forced to wonder myself. What am I supposed to think when he claims the Holy Spirit tells him specific times when something will happen and then it never happens? What am I supposed to think when he's made claims that Jesus will appear to people in his crusades (something that even the Bible says to watch out for) and never does? I dunno, but it makes me suspicious. I'm not crazy about the seeming lack of a humble lifestyle either (thousands of dollars for the fanciest hotel rooms? Come on now...) but...perhaps that's how he feels he is being prosperous? Dunno. I guess I just think there's so much more that could be done with so many millions of dollars. I wish I had millions of dollars, but it's mostly so I can have more money to give to other people. I wouldn't feel right spending oodles of money on just myself. But that's just me.

Yes, that's what I was talking about. They booked the very best suite in the very best hotel in the area and he still sniffed at it. They were all on tenterhooks waiting and praying that he'd be satisfied and wouldn't just walk out like they'd been told he'd done before!

Yeah I noticed you mentioned that only after I submitted my reply. I think I was typing it while you were typing yours, and you finished before I did haha. But yeah, that's what's the sad thing. Why do you have to have the most expensive of everything? What does that say to people? Wouldn't it be more loving to...oh I dunno...go to a Motel 6 and pay for everyone else's hotel rooms or something? Wouldn't that make a better statement than seemingly always preferring the most expensive for just himself? Blah, God knows I'm not trying to judge him or know his heart, but all I can react to are fruits people show. And those fruits of his just don't seem all that appealing to me. *shrug*

Hinn's a good man. We're not supposed to judge, there's only one Judge, amen? That's all I really have to say about that.

who are you to judge anothers servent?

where in the bible does it say to chase down and accuse heretics...? If there is a place lets hear it. Honestly if you want something done, pray for it.

So back to my orginal question, if someone was teaching complete error in regards to what the bible was saying, you'd stand by and let them do it? And as for praying for it, if they are teaching erro, I should pray that God will zap them with a lightning bolt? First in the natual and then in the supernatural okay it may suck having to confront someone about an error they are teaching, thats said which is worse, having to do it then or stand before God one day and have him ask why you didnt stand up and say that it was wrong when you had the opportunity?

For example, of a well knowen preacher advocated necromancy, somethng that the bible very clearly forbids, you would just smile and nod and go "thats nice"

people preaching the word of God, must be accountable for what they preach, because if they arent thats where hersey creeps in

Judge?Right do not judge.We are ,however to discern and make soind judgements.And judging from experience and testimonies.The man is dangerous.By the way Jesus never appeared on his act.

I agree. I'm trying not to judge either. The only thing I CAN judge are actions and what's being done. The actions don't speak positive things to me, not really. He should never have declared that Jesus would come anyway, and it's stuff like that that keeps my suspicions alive, because it goes against that very clear verse in the Bible. No one knows the day or hour of His return, and we ought not to listen to anyone who claims he does. Is there anything in the Bible that declares that Jesus will make appearances BEFORE his second coming? Because I certainly don't remember reading anything like that. And when you have a man who claims the Spirit told him that Christ will appear on stage at such and such place, we should step back and stay alert.

The need for such is not in question..
The question is are those who presume to do it any better than the one they are judging? Are they free from heresy? Do they know all truth and have the right to cast stones?
The need is not in question.. only the qualifications of those who do it.
Seems the only difference here is that those who carry out these purges would not have hesitated to cast that first stone at the invitation of Jesus.
Are THESE the people we want policing our faith??? The ones who have no comprehension or awareness of their own failings and error.
If someone is perfect, then let him judge... if not, take care you judge with a just judgement. If you do not, then you will be subject to the same justice you mete out.

I think what Benny said, if he actually said it or not, about Jesus appearing, is that one day, not everyday, Jesus would appear at a meeting.

Now the question is, can more than one person see an apparition of Jesus at the same time?

This is not like the coming of Christ, as Paul saw the great light that was Jesus on the road was not the coming of Christ, noone went back to the road and suspected Jesus was there again because Paul said he saw Him. If they would have they would have quickly realized that He was not coming back there.

The Bible seems to say that every eye will see Him at His coming, so don't believe people that say, 'oh Jesus is back, He is at Fred's house, come over and see'. I don't think that Benny saying that one day Jesus would be visible at his meeting, and everyone would see Him there, is the same as 'Jesus is back'.

Benny the great did say Jesus would appear in person.....No joke,and to follow someone with this much pride better watch out for he is more dangerous then you apparently could imagine.If that weren't the case then why is it that even John,peter paul,and....Jesus say beware of false prophets,teachers,wolves in sheep clothing? We shouldn't be aware of this happenng then? Just because he lays on of hands doesn't mean a thing accept for one....... the anti-Christ will and is doing signs and wonders,eyes are going off the Lord onto a man.....What are these signs and wonders?hmmmmmmmmmmmm,anyone wanna add any that they know of?
