What did the water on earth look like before the fall? Was it completely clear in all places? I'd imagine all of the water would be drinkable. Can anyone give me a brief answer on what the earth was like before the fall? Thanks!

Completely without any impurities or defects, as were we and the rest of the created order. Sin entering the world changed all that. Christ restores it all, and will give us a new earth beyond the original pre-Fall one in its purity and goodness.

Depends on when you think the fall was. Some people believe the fall took place before man when the dinosaurs still roamed the earth on the supercontinent of Pangea. We do have ice samples so we do know that the atmosphere was different (more humid) at that time and much more dense. Genesis 7:11 talks about how the "floodgates of the heavens were opened". There was a change in the firmament that we read about in Gen 1. Turtles and Crocodiles use to live back then and they require very wet conditions. Some people suggest that the color would be more pink or red at the time. The question is if the atmosphere was denser than how much light would get through to the water below the firmament.

6 And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.

7 And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.

The contradictions they espouse are plainly seen.
There are no contradictions. I use to chase down everyone I could find and never was a contradiction ever substantiated. For example was John the Baptist Elijah or not? - Jesus makes it clear that John the Baptist is called “Elijah” because he came in the “spirit and power of Elijah” (Luke 1:17), not because he was Elijah in a literal sense. Paradoxes can be explained when we understand the complexity that we are dealing with. It is this very complexity that substantiates our association with God.

In this case we are talking about shadows and type. What some people are referring to as paradigms today. The Bible is written on many levels. If we study the Hebrew and some of the Kabbalah teaching we start to understand this.

It sounds like you might be able to provide some clue to help me find an answer for a contradiction I have uncovered on this post over here: List of Biblical contradictions withers to none

.. but not to derail this thread! (Please remain on topic and do not pursue to debate me here, thank you ).

I doubt it
My reasons for not agreeing,
Plant life which God created cannot survive in salt water and some can’t survive without it (seaweed)
Organisms in fresh water can’t survive in salt water and others can’t survive without salt water
Fresh water fish can’t survive in salt water and visa verse except for the bull shark (amazing)

Some spices need salt water
Some spices need fresh water
Some spices need swamp water
Some spices need acidic water
Some spices need need hot water
Some spices need cold water

And it’s species not spices lol damn predictive text
Right lads, I’m off for a bath in sudsy water lol

Crocodiles tend to live in saltwater habitats, while alligators hang out in freshwater marshes and lakes.
And although the two ar of the same family line, aka reptiles, crocs and aligators are different.

I do not know how different they can be when they both go back a very long ways in time. Back to when the dinosaurs lived and the atmosphere was a lot more humid then it is now. Even they say the sky was a reddish pink back then.

You do not believe that dinosaurs were real? We have the Bible and we have Science. They do not contradict they compliment and agree 100%. The Bible does not contradict the natural evidence that God gives us to learn from.

The dinosaurs took place before the Bible begins. This is why the Bible starts off with the world in a state of ruin. Genesis 1:2 "The earth was formless and void". Jeremiah talks about this also.

Jeremiah 4:23 I looked on the earth, and behold, it was formless and void; And to the heavens, and they had no light. 24 I looked on the mountains, and behold, they were quaking, And all the hills moved to and fro. 25 I looked, and behold, there was no man, And all the birds of the heavens had fled.

The story of Adam and Eve begins around 6,000 years ago. God is infinite and you can not put infinity in a jar. If you want to understand Genesis chapter one it would take hundreds of thousands of science books to explain and you would still only be beginning to understand.

The earth was formless and void, it never said it was created. So, is the earth 16.5 million years old?

The age of the earth is a matter of perspective. Gerald is a PhD so he is an expert on that subject. He uses a combination of Kabbalah and Science to arrive at an understanding of the age of the earth. Bases on the Science of Einstein. "Einstein taught the world that time is relative". Nahmanides taught that although the days are 24 hours each, they contain "kol yemot ha-olam" - all the ages and all the secrets of the world.

According to Schroeder you can go to MIT or Harvard libraries and read hundreds of thousands of books on science that relates to Genesis chapter one and you would just be beginning to understand. God is infinite and you only fit so much of infinity in a jar or a clay vessel.

it never said it was created.
The Bible starts off with "In the beginning God created". So you have to study the Ancient Hebrew to understand the meaning of the word: "created" (bara') This word is used 55 times in the Bible so we can study those 55 verses to get an idea of the meaning of the word from the context and how this word is used.
