OK this Thread is only going to be open till midnight east coast time on

What did your pastor preach on last Sunday?

How did you use it in your life this week.

or

Same question but in regards to Sunday School last week (7-25-2004)

Now Go!

Oh By the way I taught the last of a series on How to study the Bible - Bible Commentaries and how to write your own Bible commentary.

And the visisting bishop preached on the action of faith and allowing others to bless you. Bonnie and I allowed 2 people to bring us meals this week (something I have a problem with) I forget that sometimes people show their love in different ways and we have to let them do that or we rob them of a blessing.

Ironically... our Pastor taught on debt and titheing (he believes in it)! See the titheing thread for my thoughts on that topic!

Seriously, I do believe that debt is not pleasing to the Lord. To that end, I have reviewed how I spend my money: for temporal things or for eternal things. I also felt convicted to be more sensitive to the needs of Christians around me.

My pastor preached on worship and used Eph 5:18-21 and John 4:24.

We must worship in spirit and in truth. If we are under the effect of the Holy Spirit, it will affect our worship. It is one thing for the Holy Spirit to be in you, but another for the Holy Spirit to be preeminent in your life. Three ways that the Holy Spirit affects our worship is found in Eph 5:19-21
1- Speaking (V19)
2- Giving (V20)
3- Submitting (V21)
Worship is not only about Him, it is to and for Him. It is not for entertainment, but for praise. God inhabits the praise of His people.

How have I used this?
That's a bit tougher. It made me cognizant of the need to praise with my heart rather than focusing on the sound of my voice.

Pastor George,
I'd be interested in an electronic copy of your lesson on how to write your own commentary, if you have it available and are willing.

I am so sorry Dave that one didn't really have any notes on it.
My major in Bible College was Hermenutics so I just taught it straight out. Maybe if I get some time I will write down the notes for it. With all that is been going on I have been remiss in recording them too.

Tommorow I start a series on Theology - What do you Beleive I will tape that and get it on CD for you all if you like

Anyone who wants CDs of stuff send me a PM and I will tell you how ok?

(Rules say I can't post the web site or my e-mail here and I don't want to have to warn myself )

Blessings

We had a guest preacher. Steve Bell from Chapel of the Air (is that still even on?). He spoke about the various decades - the 80's being the "selfish decade", the 90's being the "confused decade", and the 2000's which don't really have a title yet, but the "caring decade" is being kicked around a lot. If the present decade is really to be considered the caring decade then Christians have a golden opportunity to really add good works to our faith by caring for people the way we should. Then went on to show many scriptural examples of how to care for people and how Jesus cared for people. There are so many sick, lonely, dying, unsaved people.

It was a good sermon for me to hear because I've been convicted in this area of my life lately, especially as it regards our elderly next-door neighbors. I put the lesson to practice by taking myself and my husband and kids over to visit with them. We visited for almost 2 hours. I need to visit them at least once a week.

Our pastor preached an excellent sermon on "the tongue" and things related to our conversation. Proverbs speaks more about the tongue/words/talk than any other topic. Controlling the tongue can be one of the most difficult aspects of our Christian life.
Two verses that stuck with me from the sermon were "where there are many words, transgression is unavoidable" and "be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger."
More on the subject will be in tomorrow's sermon--I'm looking forward to it!

OK Church Goers!

I am locking the thread for a week!
Look for it here Next Saturday.

When you will again get a chance to share what your pastor said.

I am doing this to challenge you
To stretch you.

And to get you to share all that wisdom that is
being dispensed at your church every sunday. (Is that dispensationalism?)

And know what? Your Pastor would love to hear that you remembered his sermon a week later.

OK gang here you go!

24 hours to tell us what did the preacher say last week?

What did your pastor preach on last Sunday? Can you remember? Tell us!
Edify the Body! Write a long exogesis on the sermon. Most of all you remember!

Do you know most pastors spend 20 hours prepairing their sermons? Now me I just like to preach for 20 hours! OK it just seems like that!

Last Sunday we started a college level course in Theology. And we mapped out as a class what we beleive. I will be making the course notes available as well as CD's of the lectures if you are real interested! Just send me a PM.

I did not have a Shabbat service last Friday as it was a 5th Friday and we take 5th Fridays off. But monday I preached on Acts 9:14. This has to do with the requirements of obedience. If we are not obedient to the Lrd we not only rob ourselves of a blessing but we may well rob another of a blessing. Isn't it funny that sometimes the spirit will speak softly to 2 different people and both need to be obedient for Gd to work his miracles? Or at least so that we can see them and be aware it was him!

My Brother Jack preached on Grace last Sunday in the sanctuary and the great love that Y'shua had for his people and how gracious he was to us and that we need to be that gracious to each other.

So how about you?

Remember thread closes tommorow night at Midnight Eastern time!

Blessings

OK, 3 weeks ago my pastor talked about how we are all called to be involved in the church. 2 weeks ago my pastor talked about how we need to be involved or our lives will be ruined. last week the worship pastor talked about our vision in life. Today my pastor had the sermon about communion and how the blood of Jesus redeems us. 4 weeks ago and earlier I was at my college chruch. 4 weeks ago the pastor talked about the "dark nights of the soul." 5 weeks ago the guest speaker talked about how we shouldn't be like the culture. 6 weeks ago another guest speaker talked about how we are to bear each other's burdens. 7 weeks ago the pastor talked about how we are the prostitute in the story about the prostitute cleaning the feet of jesus. 8 weeks ago the pastor talked about God's "report card" to the church (more or less how the church is doing to the vision). Is that good enough?
