What did God do before the creation of the earth?

I think he is telling you to refrain from treating those who disagree with your interpretation of how God created everything, as non-Christians.

I'm saying that your statement "Stop doubting and believe!" is out of place. As a Christians Only forum there are only believers here.

Let me repeat. Please read carefully:

"We are not talking about belief in God. We are talking about how God created. I can believe in God but reject creationism as how God created."

I think that is pretty plain.

You're a funny person. But you're right, we're never told, so we don't know. Not that I equate it with Scripture, but Tolkien's vision of the Creator before and during creation in the Silmerillion (sp?) is an interesting read.

Up above I made the point that our not knowing is unique among the religions of the time. All of them had stories of what the gods were doing outside of their interactions with humans: who their parents were, their spouses, their children, their lovers, fights among the gods, etc. Judaism -- and Christianity and Islam derived from it -- seems unique in the absence of this type of knowledge about God.
So I was surprised to see what I consider a strength of Judeo-Christianity looked upon as a puzzle and the OP almost begging us to come up with a story of what God was doing before creation.

However, notice that later in Christianity such stories do begin to creep in. Particularly the supposed fight between Satan and God and the casting out of Satan. It is one reason I view these later views about Satan with such skepticism.

Well a Christian is a follower of Christ. That would include Peter and (doubting) Thomas and perhaps I could add others to that as well, BUT I have often read where Christ rebuked His disciples for NOT BELIEVING.

So since when did what I say declare that you are not a Christian? Although it is pretty obvious, at least to me, that you DON'T BELIEVE a vast portion of what God says.

So which doesn't believe in God: Protestents or Catholics? Or do they both simply have different interpretations?

Just because people believe something in a different way than you believe doesn't mean they don't believe. There is more to truth than mere literalism.

I don't believe a lot of what Biblical literalists say God says. But Biblical literalists aren't God.

It's obvious to me that Biblical literalists don't believe the vast portion of what God says, because they consistently ignore God's second book. Instead, Biblical literalism tries to dictate to God how He had to create. Telling God how He had to create instead of listening to God takes a lot more chutzpah in the face of God than I have. I wish them luck. I think they are going to need it.

However, I am also concerned that they don't infect others with their disease of bibliolatry.
