Hehe true. I think Canon is better (which is shown by their sales compared to Nikon), but no gear will do much good without some skill.

Canon 30D here. Absolutely love it. Battery grip, flash bracket, several lenses - 17-55mm f/2.8, 70-200 f/2.8, and 50mm f/1.4 are the most used in my ensemble.

We have a few different cameras.

Canon XT
Canon AE1 (Program)
Kodak something or other
And somewhere we have a really cool camera that does panoramic shots. (It's lovely to not have to stitch them together! Not that I have any idea where it is now.)

And does one of my daugther's Barbie cameras count? Or shall I leave that one off the list.

I barely even count my own camera, it's a little Pentax Optio 60 point & shoot. The great thing is I picked it up used for $25 and it's been great for the price for learning on.

Sounds good to me, point and shoots are great for carrying around everywhere and for learning on, capable of great results as well.

I`d include a Barbie camera if I had one...........................................ehrm I don`t actually have a Barbie camera, never had one....................ever, no mam.

I had a Fuji one from Best Buy, it was easy to use, it messed up on me, had some "zoom error" problem and the camera hasn't operated right since.

I have:
1. Canon Pellix body and 28mm f/2.8, 35mm f/3.5, 55mm f/1.2 and 135mm f/2.5 lenses (plus a variety of filters). I've used this camera for more than 25 years.
2. Konica-Minolta Dimage Z2 that my parents got me this for Christmas several years ago. It's a good camera.
3. Canon Rebel XTi (400D) with the 50mm f/1.8 and 28-135mm IS lenses and battery grip.

I want a camera with a full-frame sensor, so my next camera will most likely be the Canon 5D since I can't justify spending the money on the 1DS Mark III. But, for now, I will be satisfied with upgrading my lenses.

It uses macros so takes some wonderful close ups,

Only one minor drag is that shutter speed is quite slow, so not so good for action shots

I just got a Canon XTi last week. It is my first decent camera and I love everything about it so far. It was a gift and I'm not able to afford any additional lenses yet, so its the 18-55 for now.

Congrats! It's a great camera. If you want a really great cheap first lens check out the Canon 50mm f/1.8.

I just got the Canon 40D and I'm liking it very much so far (haven't had much time to play around with it). Hubs bought me the 70-200mm 2.8 L IS lens for my birthday and I picked up the 2x extender to plop on it too. I'm looooving it. I can finally 'shoot' birds around here. Other than that I use a lot of the 28-135mm IS. Now I'm drooling over the 400mm 2.8.... but first I have to win the lottery...
For point and shoot when I can't/won't lug around the big stuff I have a Canon PowerShot SD700 IS and that thing works incredibly well. I've got some very nice closeups of embroidery work that the big thing couldn't have done much better.

I'm probably gonna get a Canon 70-200m f/4 non-IS when I get my first paycheck from a new job in a couple months.
