Some of it is good... most of it sucks. It took a LONG time to build up a decent collection of Christian metal albums. There are some really good bands out there but they're REALLY hard to find. The stuff I like anyway. There are a lot of "metalcore" Christian bands that seem to be pretty popular in the metal world but I've always been a Power, melodic, classic heavy metal kind of guy and so finding Christian bands that play that style and are actually GOOD is hard. I can't stand the "metalcore" type stuff or whatever they call it... hardly metal IMO but whatever blows your hair back.

If you need some good Melodic, Power, Progressive or Classic Heavy metal Christian bands though, I have a good list that took almost 4 years to compile so

Actually, I'm always looking to expand my music collection, and I like pretty much all kinds of metal except for...ya know...satanic black metal lol But yeah, if you've got some suggestions for new bands I'm all open.

Oh, and I do LOOOOOVE Christian metalcore haha, listen to "Reveries of Flight" by "Oh Sleeper" and listen to the lyrics. I find it super thought provoking but ya know, different folks like different music, who am I to say whats bad

Lol.. I checked out that song. I was like... well, the definition of metalcore sure has changed if this is metalcore. Then right in the middle "ARID JFLJTL KJADAF!" Oops, never mind But ya the lyrics are nice... if you read along.

I don't know if you'll like any of these cause none of these bands are anything like that but, anyway, never hurts to check them out I guess...

Theocracy
Barren Cross (80's Iron Maiden type stuff)
Rob Rock
Mehida
Harmony
Darkwater
Wingdom
Stryper
Seventh Avenue
Magestic Vanguard

That's all I can think of right now. Top 3 are my favorites though. Excellent solid bands. The rest are good and have some really good strong songs but then they have a bunch of crap too.

One I forgot to mention if you liked Mehida is Wingdom. I think it's basically the same band (I think) just a name change or something. It's still Christian metal though and pretty good.

The keyboard player though in both Mehida and Wingdom was the former keyboardist from the band Sonata Arctica BTW...

Stryper was always a favorite of mine. At least they fully lived like the Bible asked and the music they sang. But you'll get the few people or bands that are into music for all the wrong reasons, i.e. ...being part of the CCM "industry", praises of men, money aspects.. and so on.

We need a modern day Keith Green to wake us up for a revival in the Lord once again.

in regards to Calypsis4

I’m assuming you have never been to a Christian metal concert. Let me tell you it is a powerful experience. I have even seen people accept Christ at events like Sonshine festival and Cornerstone. Metal used to be number 1 in promotion of atheism, why wouldn’t God try and turn that around in his favor?

That reminds me of a song by Larry Norman and covered by Geoff Moore and the Distance; "Why Should The Devil Have All The Good Music?"

There's nothing wrong with a Psalms 100 or a Psalms 150 song!

what do i think of christian metal? Renascent and Antestor are my 2 favorite bands of all time. i have a hard time comprehending that there could be better christian metal bands than those 2.

2 good antestor songs are As I die and Depressed

2 good renascent songs are Corrosion of Emotions and In Hell

Slechtvalk and Holy Blood I actually started checking out those two bands the other day, so funny you should mention them. Haven't really listened to either real thoroughly but I did like what I heard. Well, Antestor at least. They were a lot more melodic with their music and I like that. Renascent seems more just straight up death/black metal... Anyway I'll have to check both out a bit more. This was just first impressions.

CHristian metal. I can't stand it. I don't believe such 'music' will be heard in heaven.

God creaed all forms of music, so he created metal too. I don't think we quite know what will or won't be played in heaven. I hope everything, but we'll have to wait and see.

I like a lot of Aussie Christian metal bands.

Check out

Fearscape (Black Metal)
Synnove (Black Metal)
Grave Forsaken (Thrash).

They are also very mature when it comes to their faith and their music, and proclaim Jesus with all their hearts. I recommend checking them out

I am grateful to this thead for throwing some names out there. As Skilletdude said above, most Christian metal unfortunately sucks. I always enjoyed Living Sacrifice and Extol. Saviour Machine is my favorite Christian band.
