Black metal.

Cannot really post any songs, so yeah. Right now, listening to some Bathory. Woman of Dark Desires is probably my favorite of the first wave black metal songs. Cannot believe this music will be nearing 40 soon. It used to be a pastime for younger generations listening to music their parents' thought was too wild and evil... really... metal probably peaked in rawness during the early 90s.. I don't really see how the younger generations can shock their parents with their music anymore, lol.

Unless you have like fundamental Christian parents. Which I did. Metal, especially extreme metal was a big no-no. I remember craving it ever since I was a kid. Sadly it was hard to come by. I do remember discovering a pubic radio station that could play black/death metal every Saturday night. Used to listen to it with headphones on a walkman, hoping even then the sounds coming from the headphones didn't arise any suspicions.

I felt like I was so bad listening to that, and it made the music that much more powerful. Now, I still like it, but it's lost a lot of it's forbidden punch. Honestly, I think its a psychological force for things like sex negativity and the like. Those who often speak out against something the most, consume such things with unusual intensity. You're just dealing with psychological mind games. If I have kids they'll never know what it's like, anything will pretty much be fine for them to consume. Probably just a hyper reaction to my tight upbringing.

Black metal.

My parents were heavily into black metal. They sent me to a psychologist when they found a Stryper record in my room.

This is wonderful and funny. Song sounds like it's falling apart the whole way through. And those deeply philosophical lyrics.

My father said Stryper was evil. Heck, he said all secular songs are. In his mind God made music, and it had to glorify God. Technically The Happy Birthday song and Twinkle Twinkle Little star are extremely demonic. Probably worse so than extreme metal, because they disguise themselves as being unassuming.

Did you know that until the year 2030 you still can't sing Happy Birthday without owing a licensing fee? Seems pretty demonic to me.

I heard something about that.

My mother liked listening to rap though, so I got a heavy dose of that as a kid. While she's the whitest looking person on earth she grew up in a largely black neighborhood that was traumatic and always had a cautious and curious interest in "black culture".

Yeah, my mother would play it openly in the house. While we were technically a conservative Christian family on paper, in practice like many other families the father never really dominated anything and was in fact often subservient.

Although he was somewhat warmed up to things like rap, because he had some white guilt. While he didn't like it, he appreciated it in some weird way.

Excellent! Now we're beginning to get to the roots of your neurosis. But meanwhile, here's another song I was listening to recently. Lots of people do heavy metal. I think these guys invented heavy rubber:

Hey... that's the noise that plays when I plug my ears to try to escape all the voices I normally hear.
