Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. I'm on the third and final volume, and it's actually quite interesting. I've also started and must finish The Chronicles of Narnia (I'm in the middle of The Dawn Treader right now, but had to give it some rest because I started the following book: ) and Isaac Asimov's Complete Stories vol. 1 in Spanish.

So I'm in the middle of Chronicles of Narnia and finishing Frankenstein and my Isaac Asimov book. I'm so special, I really can't believe I'm reading 3 books! Oh, and I also just started and finished Rurouni Kenshin vol. 28! It's manga, so I can read it in less than an hour and then go back to my other books!

Just finished Left To Tell by Immaculee Ilibagiza.

Immaculee is a survivor of the 1994 Rwandan Holocaust, and her book is excellent. There are definitely historical facts included in the book, but it is mostly meant to recount her experience of hiding in a bathroom for three months with seven other women and deeply depending on God. She would spend hours upon hours in prayer everyday, retreating to an inner sanctuary of protection and sanity. She is Catholic, so she would pray through the rosary and then move on to her own personal struggles of forgiving and not holding on to hate, freedom from the evil oppression she felt, and more. Her story is so tragic, and yet there is so much hope.

Excellent read!

Eaters of the Dry Season: Circular Labor Migration in the West African Sahel
by David Rain

I wanted a new book to read about West Africa... little did I know this is a doctoral thesis that has NOT been edited for the everyday reader. I feel like I'm back in a 3 or 400 level college course in anthropology reading assigned books that are as dull as dust under your refrigerator. And due to my stubbornness, I just have to finish it even if there's only, on average, maybe one interesting sentence per page. Ugh.
