"If you dont stand for nothing you'll fall for anything".

Interesting double negative. (is this correct or was it just an accident?)

As it says "If you stand for anything You'll fall for anything" (as the double negative cancels each other out)

From The Bible~~"Folk haven't disproved it yet,and every day, scienctist are coming up with things it already say".~~My favorite one!

I beg to differ.

Hmm, some of my more recent favorites,

"Mr Bubbles, Aliens are attacking me house"
"my friends need to be punished"
"Pudge controls the weather"
(they need to be taken incontext of Lilo and stitch to make sense )

"cats back for everyone.
But I had a dog.
Is cat now."

Im still curious if thats a purposfull double negative.

Hmm, you did not say you wanted philosophy, just favorite quotes. Of course, there is philosophy in those quotes, as a childs view of life is often a much purer one than our own. If you have lost that child inside of you, you have lost more than you realize.

But for some of my other a bit heavier favorite quote,

"Old heros never die, they become the stuff of legends"

"Think of how dumb the average person is...Half the people are dumber than that." - Unknown

"Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes. Then when you criticize him, you're a mile away...and you've got his shoes." - A. Landers

"May you live every day of your life."
- Jonathan Swift

"Those who would give up a little freedom for a little temporary safety deserve neither freedom nor safety." - Benjamin Franklin

The meaning to life isnt a single answer, its all of them.
-Peter Owen

"A great many people think they are thinking when they are merely rearranging their prejudices."
~ William James

"Going to church no more makes you a christian than sleeping in your garage makes you a car."
~ Garrison Keiler

"To the optimist a glass is half full. To the pessimist a glass is half empty. To the realist it is half a glass of water. To an economist you need a smaller glass. To a
scientist you need more water. To a chemist it is merely Crystallized Silica and with H20. Know what you are; and try to understand the others point of views."
-David k. Every

"Christmas is not being with people you like, its being with your family"
-Tim Tailor

"But we loved with a love that was more than a love."
-E.A.Poe

"God, grant me the serenity to except the things I can not change, courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference."

"People to me are like cartoons. Some are funny, Some are stupid, but always I'm laughing at them."
-Dan Mason

"I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it''
-Evelyn Beatrice Hall

Is that good enough?
Personally I like the cartoon ones better.

I like that Nietzsche one that David Gould uses... "Atheism: Christian morality overcoming Christian metaphysics."

I like Meister Eckhart: "What is truth? Truth is something so great that if God Himself could turn from it, I should leave God and cling to truth."

And I like the Zen saying, "Don't seek the truth, just drop your opinions."

Just a short selection of some of my favorites.

Ancient philology indicates that the historical reliability of oral tradition can be sustained for only about three to six generations -- say 200 years at most. After that the historical picture fades into mythical darkness.
- see Biblical Archaeology Review, pg. 82 – on the unlikelihood that Jesus actually existed.

The difference between science and religion is that science starts with problems and looks for solutions, whereas religion starts with a solution (God), and seeks to fit that solution to every aspect of the unknown.

A mystic is someone who wants to understand the universe, but is too lazy to study physics.

"An atheist is a man who has no invisible means of support."
John Buchan, Lord Tweedsmuir

"If God has spoken, why is the world not convinced?"

"It is easier to suppose that the universe has existed for all eternity than to conceive a being beyond its limits capable of creating it."

"It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it." Aristotle.

Consciousness seems to be a self-affecting condition of internal and external isomorphism (awareness of self and the external world) within a neural network.

Consciousness is a gestalt experience that occurs beyond a particular threshold of escalating complexity and interaction.

I cannot prove to you that there is no personal God, but if I were to speak of him I would be a liar. Einstein: the life and times by Ronald W. Clark, World Pub. Co. , NY, 1971, p. 622. From the last year or two of his life.

"Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it.
Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many.
Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books.
Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders.
Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations.
But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it." --Buddha

I don't see scientists confirming the Bible much, especially a literalist interpretation. You'd have to provide examples.

The second I view as incredibly stupid.

"1. Tachyons: can we rule them out.

The special theory of relativity has been tested to unprecedented accuracy, and appears unassailable. Yet tachyons are a problem. Though they are allowed by the theory, they bring with them all sorts of unpalatable properties. Physicists would like to rule them out once and for all, but lack a convincing nonexistence proof. Until they construct one, we cannot be sure that a tachyon won't suddenly be discovered."

"To say it for all my colleageues and for the umpteenth millionth time (from college bull sessions to learned treatises): science simply cannot (by its legitimate methods) adjudicate the issue of God's possible superintendence of nature. We neither affirm nor deny it; we simply can't comment on it as scientists. "

Wizard of Oz to the Scarecrow: "I can't give you a brain, but I can give you a degree."

"Nor do I think we can afford these stupid culture wars, with people like Phillip Johnson getting upset that his version of God seems threatened because scientists have discovered that life developed over 3.5 billion years ago on the planet and feel that they can explain how that happened through purely natural causes. Nor can we afford the arrogant intolerance of the scientists who claim that their science -- evolution in particular -- demonstrates unequivocally that there is no God."

"We live with poets and politicians, preachers and philosophers. All have their ways of knowing, and all are valid in their proper domains. "

"Some men who call themselves pessimists because they cannot read good into the operations of nature forget that they cannot read evil. In morals the law of competition no more justifies personal, official, or national selfishness or brutality than the law of gravitation justifies the shooting of a bird."

Don't work for my happiness, my brothers--show me yours--show me that it is possible--show me your achievement--and the knowledge will give me courage for mine.
--Ayn Rand, The Fountainhead.

What objectivity and the study of philosophy requires is not an 'open mind,' but an active mind - a mind able and eagerly willing to examine ideas, but to examine them criticially.
-- Ayn Rand, "Philosophical Detection," Philosophy: Who Needs It

To the extent that a man is guided by his rational judgment, he acts in accordance with the requirements of his nature and, to that extent, succeeds in achieving a human form of survival and well-being; to the extent that he acts irrationally, he acts as his own destroyer.

"We need some more secret sauce. Put the mayonnaise in the sun."

"Aren't we forgetting the true meaning of Christmas? You know, the birth of Santa."

So here's the deal: You freeze everything the way it is, and I won't ask for anything more. If that is OK, please give me absolutely no sign. OK, deal.
