We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly.”
- Joseph Smith

The Prophet Joseph Smith's statement, “I told the brethren that the Book of Mormon was the most correct of any book on earth, and the keystone of our religion, and a man would get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts, than by any other book,” may be one of his most recognizable quotes.

Book of Mormon, 1 NEPHI 13
Chapter 13

Nephi sees in vision the church of the devil set up among the Gentiles, the discovery and colonizing of America, the loss of many plain and precious parts of the Bible, the resultant state of gentile apostasy, the restoration of the gospel, the coming forth of latter-day scripture, and the building up of Zion. About 600–592 B.C.

Mormonism is not true Christianity. End of story.

So what advice would you like concerning Mormonism? Anything specific, other than the obvious “Don’t join it even under threat of death”, for if the Mormons kill you, which they have done to Christians before (see the Mountain Meadows Massacre), you become a Holy Martyr, and that’s pretty much instant guaranteed salvation, and likewise if they torture you, that makes you a confessor, which is also pretty much guaranteed salvation, at least in the Orthodox Church, because we believe very literally what our Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ said, that “if you confess me before men, I will confess you before the Father,” and we strongly venerate St. Stephen the Illustrious Protomartyr, who was one of the Seven Deacons ordained in Acts, and also St. James the Great, the brother of St. John the Beloved Disciple, Apostle, Evangelist and Theologian, the sons of Zebedee (who was the only one of the eleven faithful disciples who was not martyred, interestingly, and he was also the youngest, quite possibly as young as 13 at the start of our Lord’s three year ministry, which causes his adoption by the Blessed Virgin Mary that our Lord directed while on the Cross, to make even more sense - in this way she could care for him, especially since Christ knew his brother would be the first of the Twelve Apostles (excluding Judas Iscariot and including St. Matthias, who was ordained shortly before the descent of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost to replace the traitor) to be killed, in addition to the more obvious reason of St. John being able to care for her in her old age. It was a mutual relationship of the sort our Lord seems to like.

Well, we do need get the right meaning of the Bible.

But if Mormons are really Christian, then they don't need to say they are "Mormons", but say they are Jesus people or Christians. I mean, if they are really by the Bible.

I asked some people claiming to be Mormons, what does Joseph Smith say that Colossians 3:15 means? Colossians 3:15 says >

"And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful." (Colossians 3:15)

To me, this clearly means we need at each moment to submit to how our Father rules us with His own peace in our hearts. And this peace is almighty against any and all cruel and foolish and dominating feelings and emotions (Philippians 4:7). And in our Father's peace, of God all-loving, we have His own creativity for how to love any person, at all. So, I would think something this important in scripture would be well-known by Christians and ones would be talking about this so we all submit to God in His almighty peace with His own creativity for loving any and all people.

So, I asked ones claiming to be Mormons what Joseph Smith says Colossians 3:15 means. But one claiming to be Mormon said it wasn't even worthwhile to answer my question. Others gave no answer about what Joseph Smith has said Colossians 3:15 means.

Possibly, they are not Mormons. I suppose I could look up "Joseph Smith Mormon commentary Colossians 3:15" and see what I can get from a Mormon website.

No, I did not find commentary by Joseph about Colossians 3:15 in a Mormon source.

I was a tithe paying, Word-of-Wisdom obedient Mormon; I was a visiiting teacher, grateful for my wonderful assigned home teachers, etc. I was a Mormon for twelve years. Many Mormons are very nice people. I have nothing against Mormons.

I know their teachings which I have diligently studied for more thsn 59 years. I have many manuals and books that they have published.

Read my posts about Mormonism. Does Christianity interest you? Does doctrine matter?

According to Mormon scriptures, you and I are in the church of the devil. According to Mormon scriptures, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are three separate gods, two of which have resurrected physical bodies. In the next life polygamy will be allowed. Being Mormon doesn't guarantee them an entrance into the Father's presence. 100% obedience to Joseph Smith's commandments does. Feel free to learn more from reliable sources. I have the 1972 Family Home Evening Manual that teaches Jesus was conceived by God and and the Virgin Mary the same way you were conceived by your parents.

In Christ, and rescued by Him,

Do most Mormons, or some powerful Mormons, actively hate Christians or Christian clergy? Are we unsafe around them?

There is an Orthodox mission parish in St. George which I have thought about getting involved in, and I’ve had an idea for an additional ministry to assist youths expelled from the more radical FLDS. But I would like to know the risks involved, not because I fear martyrdom by Mormons, but would welcome it, but I would fear for the safety of my family who I cannot simply endanger.

God's Word says: Ephesians 2:8 - For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. (salvation by grace through faith, not works)

The Book of Mormon says: 2 Nephi 25:23 - For we labor diligently to write, to persuade our children, and also our brethren, to believe in Christ, and to be reconciled to God; for we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do. (salvation by works)

Romans 11:6 - And if by grace, then it is no longer of works; otherwise grace is no longer grace. But if it is of works, it is no longer grace; otherwise work is no longer work.
