  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Nobody has mentioned Rich Mullins (although I did note a sig line from one of his songs).

Rich is notable because he was not only one of the best songwriters of all time, but he was also a Christian that truly and actually walked the walk.

This makes him almost one of a kind in history.

They let you listen to all his songs full-length at the Mullins website.

He turned away from the industry to go do missionary work, if I remember correctly. Wasn't he working on an Indian reservation out in Nevada when he died?

He had just finished the demo tape for his superb album "The Jesus Record," when he was killed in an auto accident.

He had gone back to school and gotten a music degree and was teaching (for zero salary) music to Native American children on a res in New Mexico.......but the FundaGelical owners of the school were giving him such a hard time there that he was about to quit trying.

He also was in the process of writing a musical about the life of St. Francis of Assisi (which he took the liberty of setting in the American West). This work also contained some great music.

Rich was the real deal, both as an artist and as a Christian.

He was pretty FundaGelical, but was showing a lot of signs of progress. He completed the study to become a Catholic, but never took the step of joining the church.

He loved St. Francis. His organization, run by friends, is called, "Kid Brothers of St. Frank."

Amazing story, beautiful life......and great music.
