Walking with God-What does it look like?

It is the "knowing"... that personal day to day living with God, as real as real can be in your life. Every event that happened in the Bible is possible in our own lives with Him. With God all things are possible, and the more we live in scriptures the more scriptures live in us. We see God everywhere working in our presence, present, future and in those around us. While we may not see or understand all that He is doing with, for and inspite of us, we know He loves us, and is doing it because we need it. He is first in our thoughts, first in our walk, first in our conversations, for He is our all.

Hi Visionary,

Powerful post. What you are saying is that the more we spend in the Word, the more we will incorporate it into our lives. I really like these two sentences, "
While we may not see or understand all that He is doing with, for and inspite of us, we know He loves us, and is doing it because we need it. He is first in our thoughts, first in our walk, first in our conversations, for He is our all." Thank you for your ideas.

The most important thing to me and I think in everyones walk is that each day upon awakening, you need to make a descision, for this day, who do you choose to serve? Who comes first, one day at a time, but renewed each day.

Your will L-RD not mine.

Each day

And secondly

Prayer

And third

Praise

It is hard following those three things to fall away easily, if at all.

Hello Zayit,

Putting the Lord first, daily as evidenced by being in “God’s will” with prayer and praise of Him! That sounds like a good understanding of how to build a relationship with God. Why do you think, right after conversion, this tends to be the natural progression of walking with God and then it slows way down?

The world gets in the way, and we can choose to let it or not. That is why we must ask ourselves everyday, am I serving myself and my own desire today or do I choose to follow my King and do His will?

The second choice always brings the best day from all I've seen, yet so many choose to have control, to not trust, to be lured by all kinds of distractions, as the enemy will inevitably put out to test us.

Every day we have a choice..

I choose to serve my King.

You are saying that Satan is constantly on the prowl seeking to devour us. The world, which is opposed to God wants us to think, “We can take care of this” and make us prideful and self focused when we ought to be Christ focused? When we are not walking closely with God, we are not being dependent on Him and “taking control” or our lives?

Yes, he designed us to need him, to work 'echad' as one with him, as Yeshua is one with the Father, so he wants us to be one with him, and the best scripture I always offer that is simple and to the point and easy to memorize and remember is this.

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the L-RD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

That means to trust him with everything about your life, not just the hard stuff, He wants to be involved in the minute, the smallest detail of your everyday life, not just called on when you can't find a way out and no human can help you.

Don't lean on what you know for you only know the past ( and even most of your own you forget) and you have today, but he knows and remembers all that PLUS He is already in tomorow and knows how things will turn out. That is why we are told to cast our worries on him, for worrying changes nothing, but live today the best you can, and KNOW when tomorrow gets here, He is already there.

So when you include him in your whole life you are acknowledging Him, and also in that acknoledgement comes the worship and praise, because you then see him in everything, in every sunrise, in the ability to even awake in the morning, to get out of bed , to see that the sun is up , to hear the birds sing or even the blare of a car horn, in everything Praise G-d!

Job is a great example of this, no matter what , know he is in everything and everywhere and He is sovereign, He is G-d, and be still and KNOW that.

He gives, He takes away, in all praise Him, Bless him! For it shows he is there!!!

Walking With God is Walking Torah-- Halacha

When I see someone living Torah more that talking Torah, then I know that person is a Spiritually Mature person and is walking with God...What does that look like? It's hard to explain with words...but you know it when you see it....And when I say Torah I am saying what Yeshua told us to do just as much as what we see in the first five books...

Many Christians do have a lifestyle of walking with God--Halacha...in fact they may be doing 90% of what the Torah teaches us today, and with a few minor adjustments they could be totally walking with God--Halacha---Torah

If you watch a Christian who is careful to keep himself separated from the world's sin, you see a Torah Walk in action, they just dont know it yet

Walking with God is a Torah Walk of Faith

Genesis 2:15-17 15 Then the LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it. 16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, "Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; 17 "but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die." Genesis 3:8-11 8 And they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden. 9 Then the LORD God called to Adam and said to him, "Where are you?" 10 So he said, "I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself." 11 And He said, "Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you that you should not eat?"

Abba was instructing Adam during their long walks together just as Abba instructs us today...He was giving him His Torah (Instruction) for Adam's Halacha (Walk)

Now that we have established that there are some behaviors that assist us in walking closely with God, I'm wondering how much is dependant on our motives/attitudes/behaviors/etc. that actually contribute to our walk with God? Do we actual play a part or is it only the Holy Spirit in our lives? Any ideas would be welcome.

Our dependence is upon our savior. We are like little children trying to walk in our Father's big shoes, while it is delightful for the Father to watch, He knows that it will be a long time before we could ever fit into them.

Does this actually play a part???? Yep. It gives us a glimmer of what it was like, what it means, how the people in Yeshua's day understood things, what spiritual blessings are hid in the deeds.

The Holy Spirit has lead us all to explore this avenue to learn, to understand, to gain wisdom from the experience, and to grow spiritually closer with our Lord and His Ways.

Motives/attitudes/behaviors/etc would apply to anyone in any walk. So it also applies to us also. That is why you see the comings and goings, the struggles and the humbling changes. As with anything, there is a balance, not with the world but with your mind, body, soul and spirit and its relationship with God. So with our whole being we worship God.

walking in rightousness means that you should do what is right. It takes effort to make the correct choices. Everyday we make choices.
