When were you stationed in Camp Lejuene? RainyDay and when where you in Beaufort(where I was born)?
I was in Beaufort 83-84 ... in the Hospital doing admissions. Did I admit you? That was 20 years ago.

Lejeune, since I did a back-to-back tour we Corpsman call rotating from green-blue, or vice versa, was 84-91. I loved that tour the best. I loved being stationed around the jarheads, there was much more discipline and military standards followed ... not just for the laughs!

I had a great time while I was there-- and what a great view of the City, huh? I mean I could see the Statue of Liberty from my barracks window. And anything you wanted to do, day or night, just a twenty minute ferry ride away, free play tickets at the USO in Times Square, free Mets games with a military ID... I'd sure liked to have stayed longer than I did.

It was a great view MSBS ... that's why the city wants to lock their paws on it still today. They've always wanted that prime piece of real estate. I don't know if they'll get it. You're right, the USO had tickets and discounted stuff for us to do all the time. I miss that now.

US Army, 13C/F (Field Artillery Fire Direction and Forward Observer) 1989-1999. Served in Neu Ulm Germany, Ft. Carson Colorado, Korea, and Fort Sill Oklahoma. Was gonna make a career of it but decided to get out once I got married, I grew up a military brat and didn't want to put that on my family.

Shaw AFB, SC (deployments to Ft. Bragg, Ft. Campbell, Ft. Benning, and Ft. Stewart)

I think that's the one thing I enjoyed about my service; I got to do Army deployments with the Army. Our squadron was the only one I'd heard of that finally made a permanent move from an AF base to an Army base, due to operations.
So, someone tell me about the Coast Guard? Any S&R missions to tell about?

You may be interested to know that for the first time in history, an Air Force unit directly replaced an Army one in combat. They were refueling units.
