Which analogs do you secretly love?

Openly love Grillers.

Secretly love Worthington Swiss Stakes and Super Links.

Which send you running to hug the porcelain god?

Anything that looks like dog food coming out of the can makes me gag. Vegelona is a good example.

Also not a big fan of Stripples, Vege-Links and Fri-Chik. I'm pretty sure Vita-Burger is a science expirament gone wrong.

Yup. You're right on target. Analogs are meat substitutes, usually soy based.

Mmmm. Pigs in a blanket. I'm hungry.

Nothing like a griller hot of the grill with cheese...mmmgoood!

I ate a lot of analogs back in the day. I'm sure some of the new ones that have come out in the last 30 years are better.

What I remember of vegelinks and fake chicken and lunchmeat and such is that my mom's home made "meatloaf" dishes were much better.

BTW, vegelinks on the grill just crack and burn.

A Dual turntable loaded with a Ortofon cartridge spinning Flim and the B-B's.
Which send you running to hug the porcelain pot?
Ella Fitzgerald on 8-track.

Oh, was that the wrong rendition of "analogue"?
See this cat on my shoulder?
If he won't eat it, it isn't meat. 'nuff said.

Agreed. I was the weird guy that actually like Special K loaf.

You betcha. Weird flavor and odd, stringy consistency. Yuk.

Hey now you talking Vic....this is a little off topic but I had not listen to Vinyl sense the 80's when CD's came out. So I was about to purchase a Dual 1264 off craigslist for $90 when the wife stepped in and bought a demo, discontinued Music Hall MMF 2.1 TT from musicdirect.com with a Goldring Elan cart and said this is an early fathersday gift. I was floored. Man vinyl is so much better than CD. Dont get me wrong, I still love my Musical Fidelity X-RAY V8 CDP...the thing retails for $1500 but my entry level Music Hall Deck at $263 has a wonderful warm analogue sound that the X-RAY can never produce...infact as I sit here and type this, im listening to Paul Desmond on vinyl right now. Oh and by the way...a buddy from Canada is sending me a Ortofon OM 10 cart and I have placed an order with my dealer for a Ortofon 2M RED cart as well.

Which Dual do you have? Do you like THorens?

Sorry BFA for the slight hi jack of your thread....Vic knows how I feel about 2 channel gear and good music...and he shares the same passion, thus the code words "Dual" TT..."Ortofon Cart spinnig film" and the greatest woman singer along with Mahalia Jackson....the one and only "Ella Fitzgerald".

Yup. Still have lots of SDA family and friends, so we still serve it when we entertain.

BTW--I'm loving the trip down memory lane. I'm so kicking myself for getting rid of my records and player. I'm embarassed to admit how many old Heritage Singers records I used to have. :o

Which Dual do you have? Do you like THorens?
In service: Dual 1225 on its last legs, loaded with an old Ortofon LM15 (similar to the current OM series).
Retired: Thorens TD166 Mk II with bad wiring in the tonearm.

I'm looking at a Denon DP-300F to replace my old units.

Glad to hear you still eat SK loaf...actually I've been thinking about it for a while. I know what you mean about getting rid of your old gear and albums....I did the same thing years ago. I like the Heritage singers as well as the Kings Heralds. I am just now getting back into vinyl. Check your local craigslist....you can start over with a good vintage player and receiver and speakers...and the stuff is cheap and it still sounds pretty good.

Blessings.

I heard good things about Denon decks...and they make some of the best mid priced carts around.

Man...that TD166 is a nice deck....its worth replacing the arm....if you decide to part with it, let me know. You can get my email from Patti's email listing.

WE had better get back to the topic of this thread before we turn this into an audio forum.

Which analogs do you secretly love?

Morningstar Farms corn dogs, MSF sausage links, Boca burgers. Also, I still have my mom's recipe for cottage-cheese loaf, which she used to make for potlucks. That's one of my favorites. I wasn't raised vegetarian, but I've eaten at a lot of potlucks.

I've never liked Fri-Chick. I'm sure there are others that I've disliked, too, but it's been so long since I've had them that I can't remember now.

Yup, SK loaf , and I think my mom made one meatloaf kinda thing with cashews that was great. Everything with lots of ketchup, of course.

I'm sure I have over 300 albums, and my needle is broken on my Technics turntable. I don't have any Heritage singers albums (my parents did), but I remember really liking them and seeing them live once. I just have lots of albums like the Clash and Talking Heads and Rush and Ozark Mt. Daredevils and Neil Young and Bob Dylan, et.al. Kinda rebellious for an Adventist kid, don't ya think?

Anyone who has Ozark Mountain Daredevils in his collection has surely graduated from meat analogues to the real thing.

All the OMD albums and seen them live, and love to sing and play their songs. I though I was the only one.
