Charismatic Movement - Wikipedia...edited by me
The Charismatic Movement is the international trend of historically mainstream Christian congregations adopting beliefs and practices similar to Pentecostalism. Fundamental to the movement is the use of spiritual gifts (charismata). Among Protestants, the movement began around 1960. Among Roman Catholics, it originated around 1967...
"Charismatic Christians" believe that the gifts (Greek" "charismata") of God the the Holy Spirit as described in the New Testament (ONLY!)
(primarily in Acts of the Apostles and listed/discussed only by Paul)
are available to contemporary Christians through the "infilling" or "baptism" of ("by"? "into"? God the Holy Spirit, with-or-without the "laying on of hands".(SEE: # Below)
Although the Bible lists many gifts from God (the Father) through (God the) Holy Spirit,
there are nine specific "SIGN" gifts listed in 1 Corinthians 12:8–10
that are Supernatural in nature and are the FOCUS of and distinguishing feature of the Charismatic Movement:
1. Word of Wisdom, (spiritual from God to receiver)
2. Word of Knowledge, (spiritual from God to receiver)
3. (transmitted) Faith,
4. Gifts of Healing (solely at the will of the healer),
5. Miraculous Powers,(identical to Jesus/apostles)
6. Prophecy (100% accurate fore-telling: "Thus saith the LORD...")
7. Distinguishing between Spirits (discernment of good/bad inner man),
8. Speaking in different Tongues (glossa = dialects / understandable languages),
9. Interpretation of Tongues (discernment and translation of (glossa = dialects / understandable languages)),

Laying on of hands - what does the Bible say?

Spirit-led BELIEF/FAITH in "doctrines" (summations of absolute spiritual truths) such as the Nicene/Apostle's CREEDS, does NOT save. Spirit-led men devised them for edification of believers and to prevent heresies.
Only GRACE through spirit-led FAITH/BELIEF SAVES from eternal separation from God and changes the spirit.
( John 3 as explained in Ephesians 2 )
BUT DOCTRINE IS IMPORTANT! Ask the leaders of local "churches" for a written "doctrinal statement".
If they do not have one, BEWARE and fear FALSE DOCTRINE being taught.
Compare any doctrinal statement to this or very similar one:
Doctrinal Statement | Dallas Theological Seminary (DTS)
On the issue of CESSIONISM:
We believe that some (SIGN) gifts of (God) the Holy Spirit such as "speaking in tongues" and "miraculous healings" (at the sole will of the healer) were temporary.(ENDED with the "apostolic age ~90-100 AD) We believe that "speaking in tongues" was
never the common or necessary SIGN of the "baptism" (BY) nor of the "filling OF the Spirit", and that the (final) deliverance of the body from sickness or death awaits the consummation of our salvation in the resurrection (Acts 4:8, 31; Rom. 8:23; 1 Cor. 13:8).
QUESTIONS:
1. Have the miraculous authenticating SIGN GIFTS of the "Apostolic Age" (ending ~95-100 AD) CEASED?
2. Does the recent Charismatic Movement of last ~57 years build up or tear down the FAITH/BELIEF of true believers in the Body of Christ, the "CHURCH"?
3. Explain theologically the term "Second Blessing" with supporting Scripture.
4. Are true saved believers "Second Class Christians" if they do not possess all or any of the SIGN GIFTS?.
5. Do local denominations of the Charismatic Movement have "doctrinal statements". If not, why not?
6. Do local denominations of the Charismatic Movement have "Bishops/Overseers"? "Pastors"? "Deacons"? "Elders"? "Teachers"? "Prophets"? "Evangelists"
