• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

pray about it. when I stopped regularly attending church God told me not to tithe.
don't be legalistic about it, just do the right thing.

PS (if you're blindly giving tithes because you've been taught to, it might be time to take a raincheck and see what God really wants from you in this area (he might even want more, or a bigger commitment - but only he can tell you.)

Why would GOD contradict himself?

Why are you asking if God would contradict himself?

The tithe that the church preaches today is no where close to the tithe that was law in the OT.

I know that many may not like version The Message, but I am finding out that it pretty much gets to the heart of things (pun intended).

2 Corinthians 9:7

I want each of you to take plenty of time to think it over, and make up your own mind what you will give. That will protect you against sob stories and arm-twisting. God loves it when the giver delights in the giving.

Parallel verse in the King James

2 Corinthians 9:7

Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

The above is what I go by when giving offering.

Amen

The LORD told me the same thing too...

And when I listened, FAITH exploded in me
and everything started to change as I understood
the 'simplicity of CHRIST' (2nd Corinthians 11:3)

And how its about resting
and HIS effort
Not mine

Giving up
So that HE can live HIS amazing, miracle life in a
broken jar like myself. (2nd Corinthians 4:7)

There is NO going back...

We all know that money has pooled into certain ministries and is not going out to meet the needs of the poor. That can jade our perspective on giving.

For personal reasons, remember that if you get yourself out of an automated habit, it becomes much harder to do later. Autopilot might seem insincere, but when you put yourself in a position to make decisions over every detail, it takes more mental stamina.

It is like going on vacation and having to argue over where every meal is eaten... at home, you have routines and meals are easier.

People who get sudden windfalls or pay increases often find it harder to tithe, and I'd guess a lot is due to the mental energy it takes to make the decision.

Do you want to maintain a lifestyle of giving... living in a world where the poor are sustained by considerate people... where faith communities can survive and have a presence. The issue is not just about law:grace.
What is the heart of the law?
How can you lead a life that follows in tandem with how you believe an ideal community should operate...

Is your life an expression of love and compassion...

When you are blessed, are you willing to give up a part of that blessing for someone else who could use the help...
