Time For A Recap

Its time for some of us to go back and recall the rules of this sub forum that is only for Traditional Adventists, and respectful discussion of their beliefs, rather that a systematic tearing down and critisizing of them. Here are the rules as stated by Forum Management:

4. Traditional Seventh-day Adventist Fellowship Sub-forum

4.1 This sub-forum is mainly for fellowship and discussion amongst Traditional Seventh-day Adventists, defined here as those who agree with all 28 Fundamental Beliefs.

4.2 Non Seventh-day Adventists and other Seventh-day Adventists, who do not identify themselves as Traditional Seventh-day Adventists, may ask questions on issues relevant to Traditional Adventists.

4.3 Debate in this forum on any topic is limited to those who identify themselves as Traditional Seventh-day Adventists.

4.4 Teaching in this forum on any topic is limited to those who identify themselves as Traditional Seventh-day Adventists.

4.5 Topics and posts that speak against any of the 28 Fundamental Beliefs of the SDA Church are not permitted in this sub-forum.

4.6 Sarcasm against another person here is unacceptable.

Now I went back a few years into this forums history and found the following post by another member, which I would 100% agree with, and would like to re-state now:

Ok Gang, THIS is the way I see this. I'm going to cut THROUGH the mumbo jumbo and get straight to the point. For those who cannot stand honesty and truth if it hurts, I strongly suggest you find another sandbox to play in.

What I see here is a group of people who have two sets of different beliefs. The ones who call themselves Traditional Seventh-day Adventists belong to the Seventh-day Adventist church and believe in and support the 28 fundamental beliefs. I don't know what is so difficult about this to understand. If I stop believing in what my church teaches me, I WILL LEAVE. Quietly and respectfully, not kicking and carrying on like a two-year old having a tantrum. Like it or not that is what I am seeing here. I leave and stay away for DAYS, even MONTHS, and I come back and it's the same old same old. I see all of this fighting around the name "Christ", and I'm ASHAMED. I hang my head.

I see people who call themselves "Progressive Seventh-day Adventists" because they believe in SOME of what the church teaches, but have major (or minor, whichever the case may be) issues with the rest. I am not certain if they continue to cling to this denomination because they think that they are somehow going to turn the GC on it's head and make everyone else see things the way they see them or what, but that's not going to happen.

The way I see this is...the Seventh-day Adventist church, in it's original form has been here for a whole lot longer than all of these offshoots. The 28 fundamental beliefs are what they are, I can't say they will never be added to or changed, but I seriously doubt they will ever be changed enough to suit the Progressives...therefore they will always have fodder for their "spats, disagreements, and debates".

Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, I submit to you that when I come to a forum such as this one, where I expect to be able to FELLOWSHIP with members of the church I joined, the Seventh-day Adventist Church, I am not up for, nor into, nor interested in DEBATING with people who SAY they are Seventh-day Adventist's, but in words and actions look nothing like one. I get enough of that from folks in other denominations who just love to tell me all about myself, and how ignorant I am for my beliefs.

Change the name of the church you worship in and go your merry way. I say this because it's pretty simple to understand...if you don't like the house you live in, you MOVE. You physically do something about it EVENTUALLY. Sure, you may grumble about it for quite some time, but eventually, when you see that things are not going to change to suit your needs/wants, you MOVE. One might be saying, "well, if YOU don't like what's going on here, YOU move", and all I can say to that is that I'm not the one who is unhappy with my "home".

I can't speak for others in here, but I'm truly done with being treated like I am ignorant because I love my church, in her ORIGINAL FORM. I get tired of it being insinuated that I'm a mindless robot just following the pack, when I know HOW MUCH RESEARCH and bible study went into my choice.

My soul belongs to Jesus Christ. I know the truth because of my beloved church. Satan cannot touch me, because I am His...but he can certainly aggravate the crap out of me if I let him.

I find nothing unusual at all in Seventh-day Adventists not wanting to have people around them that detract from their relationship with Jesus. Debating, nagging, fighting, etc., those are ALL distractions from worship, and therefore "detracts" from my relationship with Christ. If this is what the rest of you wish to do, PLEASE have the decency to find another forum, ask for one of your own, and have at it there.

I know the errors in my original faith's teachings. I could go back to the church I attended as a child and say, "Hey, you guys have it ALL wrong, and let me take out my bible, and you take out YOUR bibles, and I will show you, using the word of God, just WHERE you are wrong". I would have every valid reason in the world to do that, yet I do NOT. It is not my place to walk into the middle of my childhood church home and create dissent. Whether you realize it or not, that is exactly what you are doing here.

I think enough time has gone by to show that there is never going to be any "agreement" or "getting along" here. Please, be happy with whatever private sections, or sub-forums you are given to speak out about whatever you wish to, and let the rest of us who have NO problems with our church, be allowed to worship and fellowship in peace.

Call me a snob, call me a traditionalist, call me whatever you will...but what I truly am is a woman who loves her church and just wants to be left in peace with that love. Who wants to be able to come here and fellowship with her church family. If that makes me a snob, so be it. __________________

Am I right in the assumption that it goes against the rules if I comment on egw in a somewhat negative way?

Does it mean I have to fully agree with everything she wrote, otherwise I should leave this forum. If so I will gladly do it...

Strictly speaking, yes, I believe that's what it means.

If anyone had noticed, I came back to this forum a month or two ago, but have already since left. It's this endless quibbling and bickering. It's why I left CF the first time and it's why I've done it again.

So in light of the "recap:" five years later, the names of the antagonists have changed but the useless and counter-productive banter continues. Christian fellowship seems so much more productive and genuine when it isn't taking place from behind a computer screen.

Lol, no. Thats not what the "recap" means! The recap is directed at those who have openly stated they are here to correct us and set us straight, and try to do so in almost every post. It is not directed at someone who disagrees on some point. Its like anywhere else, respect the faith group whose "house" you are in if you want them to serve you supper. You dont have to agree with them; but there are a few who show total disrespect for us and our official beliefs, and thats not what this forum is for.

Incidentally; I have found some excellent fellowship else where on these forums - none of them Adventist; and the recap was posted, because I think those of us who care can make the same thing happen here.

The problem is, that people like me will not be welcome in adventist circles, or at least if they share their unwelcome opinion that is... and it doesnt make it anymore genuine if you have people with a preset opinion who fear to touch uncomfortable subjects...

Most people like yourself make some effort to get along and respect differences, despite the disagreement. I doubt that is what the recap is aiming at.

Perhaps running away is not the best response either? It only takes one inspired person for revival. You could be that one.!

STAND AND SEE

Do you ever find yourself avoiding a difficult situation? Many people today run when things get hard. They run from their problems. They run from responsibility. They run from people they dont like. They run from the past. They run from anything that makes them uncomfortable. Instead of facing the issue and dealing with it, they look for the path of least resistance, which isnt the path to victory. If we are going to embrace all that God has for us, we have to learn how to face our challenges head on.

Notice that todays verse doesnt say, Keep running until you see the salvation of the Lord. It doesnt say, Bury your head in the sand until God delivers you. It doesnt say, Worry all night and try to figure things out until a miracle takes place. No, God wants us to stand strong, set our faces like a flint, and fight the good fight of faith. And the good news is you dont have to do it in your own strength! God is on your side. Hes equipped you with His supernatural power to overcome every obstacle.

Today, know that God is with you. He is for you. You are equipped to overcome. Stand strong, stand in faith, knowing that you will see the salvation and deliverance of Almighty God in every area of your life!

Prayer: Father, I humbly come to You and ask You search my heart. Show me any area in my life that I need to surrender completely to You. Help me to stand strong and see Your salvation in every area of my life! In Jesus name, amen.

Sorry I came across a little bitter there . I'm not "running away." I'm just putting my emphasis on the study groups and church involvement that already takes up a bit of my time. The only issue with internet forums, as useful as they are, is that they tend to foster a spirit of criticism and discontent that many people wouldn't have the nerve to raise in front of actual human beings. The internet is a useful tool, but I (and this is only my opinion) have seen more harm than good be done to the cause of Christ via internet forums...especially the Christian ones.

You are right on the button there. I think that if we do go online it should be for the right reasons, and to hopefully, share positive things. Its hard to avoid the negatives sometimes, on or offline. The Apostles did'nt have internet but they sure had their share of naysayers and soothsayers and doomsday proponents.

DEFINITION OF A FELLOWSHIP POST

1) It is not debate or apologetics (defense).

Those who disagree with a congregations Statement of Faith will not
discuss reasons for or against any subject being discussed on this sub-

3) What Fellowship is:

Essentially fellowship is defined as the discussion of topics of association, of companionship - i.e. discussions of things like friends, family, work..... these topics are fellowship. Posts that offer friendship would certainly be described as fellowship. Also no matter the discussion, messages posted to this board must be polite.

Yes, this recap is needed now, more than ever!!

God Will Take Care of His Church

When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. Isaiah 43:2. {FLB 282.1}

God has a church upon the earth, who are His chosen people, who keep His commandments. He is leading, not stray offshoots, not one here and one there, but a people. {FLB 282.2}

There is no need to doubt, to be fearful that the work will not succeed. God is at the head of the work, and He will set everything in order. If matters need adjusting at the head of the work, God will attend to that, and work to right every wrong. Let us have faith that God is going to carry the noble ship which bears the people of God safely into port. {FLB 282.3}

When I voyaged from Portland, Maine, to Boston, many years ago, a storm came upon us, and the great waves dashed us to and fro. The chandeliers fell, and the trunks were rolled from side to side, like balls. The passengers were frightened, and many were screaming, waiting in expectation of death. {FLB 282.4}

After a while the pilot came on board. The captain stood near the pilot as he took the wheel, and expressed fear about the course in which the ship was directed. "Will you take the wheel?" asked the pilot. The captain was not ready to do that, for he knew that he lacked experience. There is to be a time of trouble such as never was since there was a nation. Our work is to study to weed out of all our discourses everything that savors of retaliation and defiance and making a drive against churches and individuals, because this is not Christ's way and method.--Testimonies, Vol. 9, pp. 239-244. Regarding the Catholics.

Brethren, I feel hurt when I see that so many decided thrusts are made against the Catholics.

Preach the truth, but restrain the words which show a harsh spirit; for such words cannot help or enlighten anyone. The Echo is a paper that should be circulated largely. Do not do anything that would hinder its sale. There is no reason why it should not be as a light shining in a dark place. But for Christ's sake heed the admonitions which have been given in regard to making scathing remarks about the Catholics.

Many Catholics read the Echo, and among the number there are honest souls who will accept the truth. But there is such a thing as shutting the door in their faces as they are about to enter. Put more cheering testimonies of thanksgiving into the Echo. Do not hedge up its way, and prevent it from going to all parts of the world by making it a medium for hard expressions. Satan rejoices when one word of bitterness is found on its pages.--Letter 20, 1896. {CW 64.3}

You already stated publically that I was some dude you called "Woody." You seemed pretty authoritative on that one. Therefore I will leave you once again to your imaginings. Dont worry, there are some here who know who I am...But in summary, none of what you just said on this has anything to do with my comment of "working under cover of darkness." I was referring specifically to those who come to this forum to argue away about official Adventist beliefs, and try to unsettle/confuse people about same. Unfortunately, you fall into this category.
