Perhaps i should clarify here. What i was trying to say is THE LAW is always the OT law when Paul talks about salvation and Christ.
And this is not the real issue here. The real issue is that one would put himself under a curse if he tries to observe OT laws
Steve Petersen said:So when Peter says this, is faith ended?
The word 'end,' in both cases, in the Greek is 'telos' and it is the root word for goal, or purpose. Ever heard of teleology? the study of goals and purposes.
So if the Law is ended, so is your faith, by your reading.
Seems that u insinuated that when the Law ended so is my faith.
1 Peter 1:9 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
Steve Petersen said:How come when Peter says your faith is ended you don't believe him. That is what the verse says....
It is precisely the same word that Paul uses in Romans 10:4.
Perhaps the NIV is clearer..
"for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls" 1 Peter 1:9
End result of your faith - what uour faith eventually will produce. Not the end of your faith
Steve Petersen said:So how come the Greek 'telos' used here translates as 'end result' but the exact same Greek word you translate as 'end' in Romans 10:4?
The end result of the law is salvation through faith in christ Jesus. This is what the Law points to in the end. The law will not cease to exist for others but it is nullified for Christians who are finally justified by faith. For Christians, the law no longer is needed.
funtimes said:Salvation is still by following the Law. Now, through Jesus the Laws are writen on our hearts...Jeremiah 31:33
Mathew 23 Jesus condemed the Rabbis for making strange man made Laws which Jews were to follow. There are over 15,000 Rabbi Laws, such as tearing toilet paper ahead of the Sabbath so they didn't work on the Sabbath.

Steve Petersen said:You presume that the Law was a means of justification. It never was. Now, can we move beyond this and ask, 'Can the Law be a guide for proper conduct for a Christian?'
funtimes said:Which of the Ten Commandments aren't you required to keep?
The whole 660 OT laws is superceeded by the Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus written in our hearts.
The Holy Spirit would tell u what is right and what is wrong.
The bible says " but when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth." John 16:13
If one insists of keeping the OT laws, he is clinging to the past and negating the work of Jesus at Calvary.
Perhaps thats why he is under a curse.
Steve Petersen said:So, would the Holy Spirit ever lead you to commit murder, idolatry, or adultery? Three of the Ten.
Perhaps you think only the OT laws has exclusive rights to "Do not murder, Do not worship other Gods, Do not comjit adultery"?
And you assume the Holy Spirit would not teach us all these??
You have to be real careful not to talk about the Holy Spirit in a negative light. Jesus said Blasphemy agains the Holy Spirit is an unforgivable sin.
Steve Petersen said:You didn't answer the question. I would have thought the obvious answer would be 'No.'
Steve Petersen said:So, would you agree that the Holy Spirit would NOT lead you to murder, adultery, or idolatry?
Last chance to answer clearly.
