  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm basing this list on - not just playing ability - but also the talent
to create arrangements and counter melodies and the ability to work
with/like programmers (i.e. Anthony Marinelli, Steve Porcaro and Rhett
Lawrence) to find sounds and licks which will work best for a song.

My Top 10:

1. David Foster

2. Robbie Buchanan

3. Greg Phillinganes

4. Walter Afanasieff

5. Michael Omartian

6. David Paich

7. Elliot Wolff

8. Fred Zarr

9. Howard Jones (British Artist)

10. Keith Thomas

Michael Boddicker probably would have been next on the list. Billy
Preston and Elton John would also be top 15 for me... Honorable
mention: Jane Child and Chris Cameron (Wham/George Michael).

If you're talking about session players, where is Leon Russel? For that matter, where's Chuck Leavell?

There's at least a dozen more I would have liked to have included.
C.J. Vanston. kenny Babyface Edmonds, Jimmy Jam, Michael Lange,
Tom Keane (John Keane's brother)

etc, etc, etc

Can't believe no one listed Keith Emerson (King Crimson, Nice, ELP) who had the nickname "Hendrix of the electric keyboard;" and Rick Wakeman (Yes) for Prog Rock.
