How do you feel when TV shows and movies use the Lord's name in vain?
Hmmm.....

The third commandments says (I got to look it up):

Exd 20:7Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

Even though I like to watch KungFu and other action movies. I tend to stay away from Reality TV and movies with of cursing and vain speech, especially using God's name in vain.

Fact is, when you're walking in the spirit, the spirit of God in you will help you find something harmless or praiseworthy to do.

Can you tell me why you're bothered when someone uses the Lord's name in vain?

The Commandment clearly states to 'take' (Strongs: accept, desire, hold up, respect) the Lords name, in vain, not to 'speak' the Lords name, in vain... Strongs lists 'vain' as 'falsely, deceptive, evil (destructive)'.

It is interesting how we have come to delude ouselves that this commandment is refering to cursing or swearing. It is convenient for us to look at it this way so we do not feel guilty about not living our 'Christian' lives the way that Christ has commanded us.

First of all I sense you laying down breadcrumbs to say it should also be clear that" we should keep the sabbath commandment" too.

Well anywayz.....God word proves that God is a jealous God. People who worship false Gods build something by hand that represents their God. God wants His people to know He is the only living God, and He knows the intent of every heart. God's commandment to Israel was dynamic because God has sinced revealed many names that we should not use in vain or take for granted. Some of those name are Jesus, Father, Saviour, Lord, and Holy Spirit.

True believers know and live like God is always there, so they dont use God's name in an unreverend or unreasonable fashon because we believe He lives and He takes offense to it.

It bothers me because I know God is real and therefore, hearing His creation abusing His name is knowing someonelse who may be far from accepting His word or care about His plan of adoption to save them into His Kingdom.

Do you have a problem with hearing someone use the Lord's name not in a swear word, but rather, because the person got surprised or startled?

Do you think a nonchristian would have a problem with hearing someone use the Lord's name because the person was surprised or startled?

The OP wanted to stage our.. (MY) responses to blasphemy we hear from TV or movies. (It's not that deep)...but I'm sure he had a plan b to illustrate the hypocracy of minding other commandments than the forth commandments.

Is it that you can't follow along or is it that you don't want to? You will have to face the truth at some point in your walk.

By the way, your conclusion is not what I was trying to bring you to.

Dude........How many times did I give you answers about what the third commandment being violated on TV means to me? I've cooperated with this thread.

You have to follow my bread crumbs if you're going to fall into my trap...
Take me to your leader...................

Did you know that the wolf does not get into sheep clothing to quickly pounce and devour one sheep? (He could do that in his own skin.) He stays some distance away from the flock and act as if he is in greener pastures by keeping it head down eating. Then the sheep follow each other to where the wolf leads.

Why are you, as a Gentile, bothered when someone uses the Lord's name in vain? Wasn't the Law given to Israel? Isn't Law done away with? Do you think there is a slim possiblity that the Law just might be written on your heart? If it's not, then there should be no reason at all for you becoming upset when someone uses the Lord's name in vain, as a matter of fact, eat drink and be merry and rejoice when some does because it shows there is no Law or consequence since the cross.

This a big joke to me..
I knew you had a plot to condemn people by some part of the law.

The fact is when we apply what the New Testament teach we learn about righteousness by faith. He who does righteousness is righteous.

How can you call the heart of salvation a joke. It bothers you that someone would use the Lord's name because you love the Lord. This far surpasses the Law as a mean to righteousness in the eyes of God because it reveals a restored relationship and is the foundation of salvation.

Is not honouring, in love, what God Hallowed and Sanctified doing what is righteous?

You are already keeping the Sabbath in love to your wife... how much does the Father want you to keep it in love to Him.

Yea I had a good great sabbath worship service yesterday. Women SDA preachers tend to stay on scriptures..

Do me a favor please....I want leave my wife out of future comments because when some people get mad, they tend to take jabs on my family.

When the curtain was rent after Jesus died on the cross, the door was open for all nations to come to God, We no longer have to be circumcized.
Which is the sign of being under all the law.

In most cases when Paul is talking about circumcision it's a reference to being under the Mosaic Covenant.

If the question is what does God require of Gentile Christians? We should read and apply to understanding what is written in those circumstances.

There is no such thing as Gentile Christians. As a matter of fact, the title Christian is only a nick name and not a theological term that separates two groups under the new covenant. We are all the house of Israel of which the new covenant is made with.
