I'm going to agree with you (on one of the rare occasions ). Since I was born in the 1960s, to my knowledge, there has been conflict and deception. And from reading history books, it occurred even earlier. But I know it was the liberals who started the problems (just kidding - or am I?).

You made the statement, "IMO, it is not a "left vs right" problem, it is a "good vs evil" problem." I simply misunderstood this. I thought it was saying that one was good and the other was evil. Thank you so much for clarifying.

Politicians have never been our friends, because they don't have God as their friend. Probably the majority do not even believe in Jesus. When was the last time you remember a politician acting like "this man fights for our Lord and savior without bending the knee to the Devil". Never.

All I can find is a Meme on this without any explanation as to what Musk meant. Why is it that some always jump to the extreme negative like Musk is trying to impose some Gestapo Camp lol.

I have worked in welfare on and off for 40 plus years and went through the deinstitutionalisation of the mentally ill. The States philosophy was it was better for patients to live in society and cared for by the family. Not that they knew anything about mental illness.

We seen a spike in incidence of addiction and violence on the streets. The cost to society phenomenal over the years. In reality the mentally ill ended up without any support and left to the churches and charities to cope. Which they had no idea about mental illness.

Having facilities that specialise in treating the mentally ill and then helping those who can reintergrate into society is desperately needed. As well as rehabilitation units for addictions as mental illness and addiction are often comorbid.

The State sees mental illness as not being a fundemental health issue. If mental illness was seen like heart disease or diabeties we would have clinics all over the land treating the mentally ill like we do physical health.

The unreal idea that every disabled and mentally ill person should be independent and in society is a reciept for disaster as the fact is many end up falling through the net and cause more harm to society than any percieved breach of peoples liberties. Its a breach of the States duty of care to ensure a safe society.

Research clearly shows that mental health fscilities and rehab make a difference in helping people stablise and cope within a mental health care plan. Along with followup support many can live a relatively normal life without causing chaos to society.

You ever notice that nuts tend to sprout and grow on the ends of branches, furthermost from the center, regardless of if they branch to the left or right?

It is true in both trees and politics.

I would encourage you to take a deep dive into the history of the American Right. The things we are observing today are the result of social and political victories which the American Right has been fighting for a very long time. This is almost a century (at least) of political activism and work bearing fruit.

Trumpism isn't the cause, it's the symptom.

I did apply any label to you. I simply pointed out that what you describe is what the Right has been trying to accomplish in this country for decades. The rise in open racism and the reinvigoration of white supremacists to feel comfortable to be public about what they think and feel--which is what has happened under Trumpism--are not out of step with the Right. The rise of the alt-right and the openness of hate that we've seen since 2016 vis-a-vis the rise of Trump are not the cause of what we are seeing, they are symptoms of what's been going on for decades. These are the same political and societal forces which, a century ago, were behind Jim Crow, lynching, segregation, and the litany of systemic racist evils which came out of the post-bellum and post-emancipation America in reaction to the freedom of formerly enslaved human beings.

This isn't new. This is simply the reactive, racist, awful shadow of America that we've always been struggling with. It was never about "common sense". We can choose a host of examples, how about economics? Economic policies which exist for the explicit purpose of disenfranchising people and keeping economic and political power in the hands of an elite minority isn't "common sense". Common sense is that a healthy economy depends on the flourishing of people, housing security, a stable income where basic necessities are met, where people don't exist in a state of limbo unsure if they'll have to choose between food on the table or keeping the water running, that's common sense. When people cannot afford basic necessities, it will cause an economy to collapse. As such de-regulation harms the economy, lobbying for big corporate interests harms the economy, defunding social welfare programs harms the economy, gutting Medicare and Medicaid harms the economy, giving tax breaks to the wealthy harms the economy.

Want a healthy common sense economy: Work toward ending wealth disparity, lift up the poor, house the homeless, have livable wages for workers, place the tax burden on the wealthy not the poor, enact universal healthcare. Do the things that will lift up those on the bottom so that their lives are capable of flourishing. That's common sense.

Those are all things the Right has been actively fighting against for decades. And yes, it actually is related to those systemic racist ideas I mentioned before. Poverty might be colorblind, but the policy-makers who do things to hurt the poor certainly aren't--those policies exist in the first place to keep people of color down and excluded, and to keep the hoarders of wealth with their hoarded wealth. It is an economy constructed specifically to keep the rich rich, the poor poor, and the halls of power fair-skinned and white.
