Does anyone have an opinion on Mel Gibson's new film 'The Passion'. It's sparking a lot of controversy among the Jewish community. I heard it was a great film. I don't necessarily believe in all of it, but i most definately will see it. I heard the film makes the Jews look bad and that it will really sparks a lot of anti-semitism. I really hope it doesn't. I saw some screen shots, and this movie is going to be deep.

Only seen a 4-minute sneak preview, and it left me in tears, so powerful. I can't wait to see it.

Do you think it could cause any trouble with the Jewish community.

What he did was TO FILM what's written in the Bible! There is no problem when the Bible is the best seller of all times but when it is filmed, it is anti-semitic.

I read that Gibson combined the four gospels to create this vivid account. Do you think the Jews have enough things to worry about. I can't help coming back to this because it is sure to spark some sort of backlash, and i really don't believe it is necessary at all. I don't think people are smart enough to leave things in this past, where they belong. Gibson from parts of the script i read did a rather poor job of depicting the Jewish people of the time. Is it necessary to make the Jews look worse than the Romans?

So you believe the idea that Christians or whoever sees the film will GO BALLISTIC on Jews? Correct me if I am wrong. Furthermore if you didn't like the idea of the movie or you didn't like what you read about the movie, all you gotta do is to stay home, not see it, right?

Honestly, I don't believe what you believe. I take Jews as people of the law, they didn't accept God's Grace in Christ Jesus so they are bound by God's Law. Simple. This movie will not make me hate Jews for any reason.

I believe someone will. Me, i could care less about the movie's implications, i understand that many of them are unfounded, but i love film. You fail to realize man's ingorance and the possibility for problems. I only care about the people that could be hurt. I really wish we could here how the Jewish community sees this.

What is so unfounded about this movie are your own thoughts in my opinion and I'd appreciate it if you list the unfounded facts about the movie?

Like I said, why don't I go and kill the Jews for the reason I have read the Bible, how will a movie be any different? It won't be a problem for any Christian out there, because they know their Bible already. How about the non-Christians? I am sure they'll go out, round up jews and kill 'em, just because of a movie...

Please go and read FAQ section of the movie's website and read comments from people.

The "New Testament" is as anti-Semitic as they come.

The film is adapted from the accounts in the Gospels. Most Christians will know that the Jews did not kill Jesus, the Romans did not kill Jesus. Jesus CHOSE the cross. It was God's will so that we all could be saved.

Without the Cross their would be no salvation.

PEACE IN CHRIST!!!

Amen to that! Isaiah 53 has it right on.

That said if someone wanted to use a movie or a book as an excuse to act out in hate against other beautifully made creatures of God, then they had it in their heart to begin with. That would be their own shortcoming, not Mel's.

The actress who played "Mary" has said that allegations that this film has an anti-semitic message are ridiculous.

Furthermore, Mel Gibson, has said (and I saw his live EWTN interview) that the actress brought her Jewish culture to the role, and he has only spoken highly of her and the entire cast.

And next Monday, for those of you in the U.S.A., on the news magazine show "Primetime", Diane Sawyer's one-on-one interview with Mel Gibson will air.

Actually, it was the Jews who cried out "Let his blood be on our hands," when the order for his death was brought forth. And that isn't what Isiah 53 says at all. Jesus was obedient to the will of the father. The Jews had their agency to follow his word. But they didn't. In Jesus the Law of Moses was FULLFILLED. Have you ever heard the parable of the Husbandman and the vineyard, it helps people understand god's will a little bit more. Nonetheless, Jesus chose the will of the father, and not the temptings of his own accord.

From what I understand, this film is AWESOME! It was shown in Hendersonville TN this past Monday, and there was not a dry eye in the house!

Most people know it was not the Jewish people that killed Jesus. Jesus was sent here to die.

Love-n-Blessings!

You don't honestly believe that people can give an honest opinion on a movie they haven't even seen yet do you? Shouldn't you wait until a few of us have actually seen the movie to ask what our opinions are on it? I haven't read any of the replies yet to this thread but I'm sure it will be very interesting, lol, yeah, seriously!
