  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

So for the longest time, I was convinced I committed the blasphemy against the Spirit.
No matter how many times I asked God, he always replied "No." He said "no" when I asked him if I was going to Hell.

I asked him like that everyday, and always answer..except when he sayd "Yes" .. just to see if I have doubt.

Anyways, I found this verse :
Mark 3:28-29
<28> Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme: <29> But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation.

Notice it says "is in danger of" ... not actually committed that sin.

I wanted to see what you guys thought about this. Maybe this could help someone feel better.

For those wanting to know, the reason I thought I committed blasphemy was because I said "FU" to the Holy Spirit, out loud.

Like I said, I thought I was going to hell after that. But luckily I stumbled across the KJV of the bible, which merely said I was "in danger of" committing blasphemy.

Now, I think I know for sure. I would like some feedback and some honest thoughts about this matter.

BTW, I am getting baptised soon!

See ya guys after the jump!

Hello @Nick01, the blasphemy of the HS is a very specific sin that involves far more than "bad-mouthing" the Holy Spirit. This particular sin requires the blackest and hardest of stone-cold hearts to commit, so much so that if someone (like yourself) cares/worries that they may have committed it, that is a sure sign that they have not done so

Because of what they were saying to the Lord, the Pharisees were the ones who were in danger of committing this very specific sin (claiming that the works of the Holy Spirit were actually the works of Satan, all the while knowing what the truth really was), which is why the Lord Jesus chose to warn them.

God bless you!

Dear one,
whatever you have said, you need to come in contrition to the Lord, that you have grieved the Holy Spirit by saying things that you didn’t know what you were doing.

dear one,
It is good that you are going to baptize with water. Let us hear what has been said :

Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you, not as a removal of dirt from the body but as an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, -1 Peter 3:21

So dear one, after baptized, have faith that the Lord is giving you a new heart ( new conscience). Keep that new heart in accord with God’s words.

This is what we have heard:
I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you. -Psalms 119:11

So dear one, store up His words in your heart.

Remember this :
For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul (mind/emotion/will) and of spirit ( heart/conscience/intuition), of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. -Hebrews 4:12

So dear one, consider to please the Lord by hearing words of God like what is in Romans 8:5-7.

Lastly, meditate what you have heard:
22 Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart, -1 Peter 1:22 NKJV

May from now on, you have blessed days pleasing the Holy Spirit. God bless you.

I can say with confidence, you're not the first person in the history of the world to curse at God. Cursing God still doesn't land you in hell. Unbelief in His Son is the only thing that can do that.

Blaspheming against the Holy Spirit is to proclaim and believe that you don't need God and have no intention of believing in His Son's sacrifice for your soul.

I don't know your heart - only God does. But from the words posted in this forum, it sounds to me as though you are repentant, believe in the salvation of Jesus the Messiah, and desire to follow His teaching.

If that is indeed true, I'll see you in heaven.

Hey Nick, blaspheme against the Holy Ghost is a permanent state of rebellion. It has nothing to do with temporarily expressing anger then repenting as, obviously, you do. It is ok for a child to be angry at their parent once in while.
