Adam Yates was guarding the gate. He had been guarding the gat for more than five years straight. He never left the gate. There was a large pit about five feet away from where he was sitting, and he would wander to the edge of it and go to the bathroom, dropping his waste in the pit. It really smelled at the bottom of the pit. For food he was brought a wagon full of bread and water every month. For meat he had a bow that he would use to shoot animals that strayed close to the gate. He wasn't happy with his job, but he didn't hate it either. It was an okay job. He was dedicated to never leave the gate, because the last time a gateway guardian left his post, the town was attacked. The townsmen had fended off the trespassers and hung the gateway guardian in the time square. When Adam had been appointed he had promised to never leave his post until relieved from duty. Adam was getting a little worried though; he hadn't gotten food or water in a little over two months. He knew they hadn't forgotten about them. At least he hoped, but Adam would always stay at his post.

"This city is really old. It looks like the people died because of a disease." The archeologist said.
"We don't know which disease killed 'em, but we think it died with age. But I don't think it killed the whole town off. Over there by the front gate they found the remains of a guardsmen. His remains look like he died of starvation, not any disease." The scientist speculated.
"Well, let's let these people rest in peace, we already have all of the gold from the town." Said a grave robber, approaching from behind. They all nodded and left.
