  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The Future of GameCube?

I have a Wii and a 360. So far the Wii has been a lot more fun than the 360. However, the 360 is still really good (aside from the major cooling problems it has). Wii will certainly have more kid friendly games, but likely a smaller selection overall.

What I have come to realize over the past 2 generations is that Nintendo will put out a lot fewer titles but higher quality games. 360 will have a decent selection, but a lot of trash. As for Sony, they tend to have a lot of 3rd party support, but tons of trash games are put on that system along side all the good games.

I still don't get this "Wii will certainly have more kid friendly games, but likely a smaller selection overall" stuff. Yes, Nintendo will provide more kid-friendly games. But all the major M-Rated games will be there too. Geez, Call of Duty 3 is out (where you can use the motion sensors to simulate bashing enemy troops with the butt of your rifle) and that's CERTAINLY not a kids game. The Mortal Kombat franchise is going to be on Wii - the notorious bloodfest with fatalities and all. I even read somewhere that there may be a version of Grand Theft Auto for Wii.

The only thing the Wii is likely to lack will be RPGs - that's Sony's realm. However, with the high cost of the PS3 and lackluster launch maybe some will head over to Nintendo's territory (or, heaven forbid, maybe Microsoft will show some interest in getting an RPG selection!).

Maybe you've been under a rock?

The most popular video game advertizement in Japan (and by Japan, I mean Tokyo ) is for the X360 game, Blue Dragon (not counting the ever growing series of Dr. Kawashima games for the DS (I think Brain Age is the only one out in English, but I'm not sure. More adults are playing a DS than kids, it seems like!)). Microsoft IS pusing X360 RPGs for the Japanese market. Also, don't forget that Oblivion is the best selling X360 game (unless Gears of War has passed it now)!

In convenience stores, like 7-Eleven and those types, there are lots of 360 ads (they are included Blue Dragon in the console bundles here). In the trains, it's mainly DS and Wii ads. To be honest, I haven't seen many PS3 ads at all.

You know it's funny - if Blue Dragon was going to be on Wii, everyone would say that it was Nintendo making another "kiddie" game because of how the characters are designed.

Two RPGs do not a genre make. Nintendo will have several RPGs too, but not nearly as much as Sony. I didn't say Xbox had NONE, but they certainly don't have QUALITY RPGs to be taken seriously by role-playing fans.

And Oblivion is overrated. Graphics are nice, but they're going to have to come up with a better way of doing first-person sword battles than just a frantic swinging of your weapon in front of your face.

Have you actually played it much?

Also, you're comparing the fighting in Oblivion to other RPGs?

Me thinks you have some anti-Microsoft thing going on...

I work at a video game store, and on our tv's that hang above the entrance to the store an interview with a main dude from rockstar games keeps saying "grand theft auto will now be an xbox exclusive." So that isn't true. Also, I know there will be some mature games but all I mean is the Wii will have more childrens games than the other systems. If you have ever played a GC or have seen the release titles / upcoming titles for the Wii you can see if for yourself.

Also, on the CoD note, it is rated T not M. In fact the Wii only has 1 M rated title (splinter cell), and it is a multi platform game.
