5/5 = A1. Jesus interpreted the Scriptures literally.
2. An allegorical interpretation allows for as many interpretations as there are people in the world.
3. A literal interpretation forces even those hostile to a passage to admit what it is saying.
4. A literal interpretation allows a third party to settle a dispute between interpretations.
5. A literal interpretation allows for Occam's Razor to take effect.
Just before the Flood, the earth was:
- one tropical climate
- one unified continent
- inhabited by angels and their hybrid offspring
- extremely corrupt; both morally and physically
- watered by ground mist -- (it didn't rain)
- people lived much longer than they do now
You interrupted a live conversation here to tell me to make another thread? or was it just to issue an insult?OP - 5th November 2003
The OP and many of the participants haven't been here for years! (circa 2003)
You mean to tell us that you're so mentally deficient that you are unable to glean from these old discussions and start new discussions of your own???
Enough said.....
No insult. Just wanted to wake you up to the reality of things.
If you see an old topic that you're interested in discussing today, there's no problem in referencing an old OP post in your new thread. But, to dig up old threads, and reply to people who haven't been here for years, is just ... retarded.
Where does it say this in scripture?Just before the Flood, the earth was:
one tropical climate
Where does it say this in scripture?[*]one unified continent
Where are these angels and hybrids now?[*]inhabited by angels and their hybrid offspring
I guess nothing has changed then... one wonders at the efficacy of the Flood.[*]extremely corrupt; both morally and physically
Nonsense. Isn't this only from the very early part of Genesis, anyway?[*]watered by ground mist -- (it didn't rain)
Again you are misunderstanding a common method of elevating the stature of prominent ancestors, used through out the Middle East at the time Genesis was written. When you ignore context, you always wind up with faulty conclusions like this.[*]people lived much longer than they do now

That is only your interpretation.1. Jesus interpreted the Scriptures literally.
You mean like the thousands of interpretations and Christian sects we have today? Also, just because it makes it harder for you guys, doesn't mean the easy way is correct.. does it?2. An allegorical interpretation allows for as many interpretations as there are people in the world.
Irrelevant to the accuracy of using a literal translation. But then, you guys don't really seem to care about accuracy..3. A literal interpretation forces even those hostile to a passage to admit what it is saying.
Also irrelevant to its accuracy. It really is all about making it easier for you guys to understand scripture.. isn't it?4. A literal interpretation allows a third party to settle a dispute between interpretations.
Sorry, Occum's razor is not a license to ignore context.5. A literal interpretation allows for Occam's Razor to take effect.
Would you please clarify this? are you saying I am the only one in existence who thinks this?1. Jesus interpreted the Scriptures literally.
That is only your interpretation.

We're doing just fine, thank you.
No insult. Just wanted to wake you up to the reality of things.

No, I never said that no one else shared your interpretation, just that it was your interpretation.Would you please clarify this? are you saying I am the only one in existence who thinks this?
I don't think we can say for certain whether or not Jesus was a creationist. Nothing he wrote, if he did write anything, has survived. All the gospels were written by others and written after the fact. It would be easy to see a writer adding his own angle to what Jesus was supposed to have said or done. Even if we take the gospels at face value, it is not clear if he was a creationist or not, though it can be interpreted that way. For me, it really doesn't matter. Jesus was human and he was certainly capable of error. And for the record, what is your interpretation?
Yeah1.
