Did you sit on the roof to cool off in Summer, in the afternoon/evening like they are suppose to do in the Middle East? Also did you have air conditioning?

Winter heating was a 44 gallon drum burning wood with a flu.

No aircon.

Basic living.

As a child in NZ I used to wake up in the morning with ice on the inside of the windows !!!

We are a hardy bunch.

I imagine because most of the Lord of the Ring was shot there. Which kind a looked a little like Alaska.

But I grew up in a town called Ridgecrest, that is called "the gateway to Death Valley" often called the hottest place on earth, our temperatures were often 1 degree Fahrenheit less than DV, but we sometimes beat DV.

My daughter worked on the series as an AD.

We have a -13C this year near to where it was shot.

Kyrie eleison. I can’t imagine dealing with that heat. It scares me so much that even in the early spring, when Death Valley is supposed to be beautiful to visit, with mild temperatures and lots of flowers, I am scared to go there, for fear of getting sick and stuck there when the heat of the summer sets in. I can handle the temperatures in Las Vegas and in much of San Bernardino, like Victor Valley and Apple Valley, there are cool breezes which blow down from the mountains, whereas along the Colorado River, the pure fresh water provides cooling (although something has to be done about declining water levels in Lake Mead; it would cost a fortune but I think a transcontinental canal system to connect the increasingly drought-prone West with the flood-prone Upper Midwest and Northeast is needed, and by paralleling the right of way of railroads, freeways, natural gas pipelines and high tension power lines, it could work).

Well if your born in a desert area or other hot place you got more sweat glands and are otherwise acclimated to it. So yeah I take it better than most, during the summer time my brothers and I would go out into the desert that was right by our house and catch some of the wild lizards of the area like the desert iguana, or the leopard lizard, in the late morning to afternoon summer sun.

Probably would not have done that if I wasn't so allergic to cats and dogs, but Mojave lizards and snakes were our first pets.
