If you don't know how to vote, just remember that newer things always tend to undeservedly get credit for being in the "top 10 greatest ever" of whatever category.

So if you are not familiar with Pink Floyd-DON'T VOTE. It would be like saying Allen Iverson is the greatest basketball player ever, having not seen Jordan (or Larry Bird for that matter).

I guess I have a grudge against U2 because they beat Radiohead earlier. Pink Floyd it is.

Actually, out of all the bands named in the entire poll, I would probably pick Pink Floyd as the greatest band of all time anyway, even though Radiohead is my personal favorite band.

Right now, it's Pink Floyd 19, U2 16. Let's see how smart these voters are.

...by the way, U2 would probably not exist without Pink Floyd. The Floyd are way more influential.

The reason why all your "favorite" bands weren't in the tournament was most likely because the tournament was most likely supposed to be a battle of current bands. I know it wasn't prepared ahead of time because I suggested a match and it was put in the tournament. So stop complaining that it's the end of the world that your favorite band isn't it the tournament our isn't going to win. It's just a forum tournament.

Actually, that was just The Edge. He's a Clash fanatic. The biggest driving influence behind U2 were The Ramones, and Irish people like Thin Lizzy and Bob Geldof and the Boomtown Rats meant a good deal to them as well. Pink Floyd didn't mean much to them, though early demos, notably Street Mission, show some obvious Floyd influence on Edge.

Hmm ... 20-17 to the Floyd at the moment ... come on U2!

Hmm..From what I've read, Bono has always praised the Clash as a great band and one of thier leading influences. He once said that "Sunday Bloody Sunday wouldn't and couldn't have been written if it weren't for the Clash." Or maybe that was The Edge....?

I'm not familiar with that quote, but there's this: "The Ramones were a huge influence ... if it wasn't for them, we wouldn't have felt the way we did about ... a lot of things, really, we might not have even had a band." Bono said varying forms of that a few times. Plus, the last song Joey Ramone ever heard in his life was In A Little While, and Bono said something along the lines about how it was amazing to be able to say that, considering that the guy was basically a 'hero' of his when he was growing up and getting into music. They also presented some major award - I forget which, but one of those "yeah, you guys were a bloody incredible band" awards - to The Ramones in 2000 or 2001, and did a cover of Beat On The Brat for a 2002 Ramones Tribute album (awesome cover, by the way).

Edge probably wouldn't have become what he is if it wasn't for The Clash, though. Apparently Larry's all about Elvis, and Bono's got the utmost respect for the Beatles, particularly Lennon.

Are you kidding? They beat Oasis, Radiohead and Incubus....Gee some tuff compitition. The Beatles were the only band they beat that were any good. If they were put up against a real band in the beginning they wouldnt have made it. In my opinion anyway.

Dont get me wrong I like Oasis and Incubus but they shouldnt even be considered for a compition.
