  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

It has to do with what they call human nature. It is the nature of the devil to lie, cheat, deceive, kill, steal and destroy. It is God's nature to have love, mercy, grace and forgiveness.

Evil comes from the heart, not the mind.

Once again I would ask: why do you think this individual is a devil?

I'm not saying that there's absolutely no way this individual could be otherwordly, but rather I'm wondering what evidence people have found to support the idea. Why does anyone think this sniper is a demon?

Yeah. I pumped gas this morning and purposefully stood behind the brick part of the aisle. The dude shot last night was pumping gas too.

I'd bring out my "nine" but I suppose I wouldn't even see it coming if I was shot.

Yeah, but we'd have to feed and house his sorry butt in prison for years, not to mention paying for his defense lawyer to go through appeals, etc. Oh, and then there is the electric bill.

Aheh, I know the devil exists and I know God exists and as long as God exists I know anything I can think of is possible, so yes its always possible but its WAY out there. I think the bible tells us enough about satan to know that the last thing hes going to do is run around at random shotting people in human form.

I think this person, or group of people might possibly be the Muslim Extremists that did the 9/11 thing.
Think about it, a shooting is happening almost every day.

I serial killer doesn't work like that, they sneak around once and a while for the rush and then hide enjoying the news for awhile before doing it again.

Muslim Extremists dont strike me as the type to use a sniper gun picking off people one by one, and they dont target random people off the street. Im thinking its one deranged bloodthirsty lunatic, looking to cause disruption in our daily lives and get people scared, I think soon the shootings are going to stop, hes going to let it sink in and then strike again.

My personal take on this is, I don't believe this person is the devil. Maybe he has a demon in him, but an actual demon or the devil, no. I'm against a death sentence, it's my belief that God is the only one who can pass judgement like that. I think the ultimate punishment would be God's wrath. From what I've read in the bible through out the years, it sure ain't pretty and I sure wouldn't want to be in anybody shoes that is facing the wrath of God. It could be terror realted, but usually those perfer killing as many people has they can at one time. But I do think that the sniper will be taken alive and probably sentenced to death, that's usually how it goes with killers like this one.

I have been told by Christians on this board that all humans are naturally depraved, that everyone is born that way. If you believe this, I don't know why you would think a depraved person like the sniper MUST be a devil. He's obviously a natural-born evil sin-filled human! I would think the Christian view is that he just needs to be saved and all his sins will be forgiven. You guys can enjoy his company in heaven. All he has to do is repent at the last second, right?
