Its a long standing issue with blood banks stemming form the HIV fear frenzy of the early 80s. even though all blood products are screened for such things as HIV, hepatitis and other blood born illnesses and even though blacks are more likely to be infected than gays and lesbians. homosexuals are still bared form giving blood but no other minority.I didn't know about the giving blood thing, thats interesting.
Hey that sounds familiar. Oh yeah .this same argument was used to justify laws against interracial marriage. After all Richard Loving had the right to get married to a woman of the correct skin color .but he chose to endanger the institution of marriage and break the law and marry a black womanAnd yes you can get married, its just restricted to the opposite sex. I'm not going to argue over the legality of same-sex marriage here, however, as it seems as more of a secular issue than a religious one.

Please show me how and when I have disobeyed this commandment. Perhaps you forget the first which is greatest and like it: "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind."You mean like how you choose to disobey?
"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." John 13:34-35
The difference being the definition of marriage is defined as being between one man and on woman..as instituted at the beginning of time. But we're discussing the Day of Silence..Its a long standing issue with blood banks stemming form the HIV fear frenzy of the early 80s. even though all blood products are screened for such things as HIV, hepatitis and other blood born illnesses and even though blacks are more likely to be infected than gays and lesbians. homosexuals are still bared form giving blood but no other minority.

Ok, the Day of Silence isn't your thing. So don't participate. It's just that simple. Nothing is required of you.The difference being the definition of marriage is defined as being between one man and on woman..as instituted at the beginning of time. But we're discussing the Day of Silence..
Hey that sounds familiar. Oh yeah….this same “argument” was used to justify laws against interracial marriage. Richard Loving had the right to get married to a woman of the correct skin color….but he chose to endanger the institution of marriage and break the law and marry a black woman
And the day is about stopping discrimination, it never states it's opinion on being gay, just says someone shouldn't risk getting attacked for who they are.I guess it depends on your definition of "help." If by help you mean defend them against abuse and discrimination (like..not allowing them to have a job.) then by all means.
But if by help you mean supporting their homosexuality..then I'll leave that at the door.
Yeah, the blood thing is based off of the irrational thought that all gay men have AIDs, which they would be testing for anyway I would hope, instead of just taking peoples word for it that they don't have any diseases. And yeah, marriage is something that should stay in one of the nine billion threads on it.I didn't know about the giving blood thing, thats interesting.

Can you honestly say your posts about our gay and lesbian brothers and sisters are loving? Please show me how and when I have disobeyed this commandment. Perhaps you forget the first which is greatest and like it: "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind."

Which is what the law was. Any two people of the same skin color could get married thus the ban on interracial marriage was not discrimination at allUm, I was just talking about what the law is, currently. Anyone of legal age is allowed to get married, to the opposite sex. And I even pointed out that I think it is more of a secular issue (i.e. civil contract) than anything, what more do you want from me?
Which is what the law was. Any two people of the same skin color could get married thus the ban on interracial marriage was not discrimination at all
But you happily use the same argument for the nowI'm not talking about, or justifying what it WAS, i'm speaking of what the law is now. I don't think that the bible is against interracial marriage, but thats a completely different subject.
Back to the topic. Lets have a day of silence for all oppressed groups, it would be better for us all to have more listening than speaking, any way
Do you have a problem with my belief that its a secular issue and not a religious one? Should all churches be forced to recognize all marriages regardless of their own rules? But you happily use the same argument for the now
There was no secular and religious separation back then, I bet. So it was probably just an "issue".Which is what the law was. Any two people of the same skin color could get married thus the ban on interracial marriage was not discrimination at all
Can you honestly say your posts about our gay and lesbian brothers and sisters are loving?
Please recall those advocating discrimination against interracial couples used the bible to justify their prejudices
uhmmm Actually most people who discriminated quoted the Bible as justification for doing so. Quoted it a lot.The difference being, there was NO biblical justification for such claims
there is against homosexual sin.
