Hey that sounds familiar. Oh yeah.this same argument was used to justify laws against interracial marriage. After all Richard Loving had the right to get married to a woman of the correct skin color.but he chose to endanger the institution of marriage and break the law and marry a black woman

The difference being the definition of marriage is defined as being between one man and on woman..as instituted at the beginning of time. But we're discussing the Day of Silence..

Um, I was just talking about what the law is, currently. Anyone of legal age is allowed to get married, to the opposite sex. And I even pointed out that I think it is more of a secular issue (i.e. civil contract) than anything, what more do you want from me?

But if by help you mean supporting their homosexuality..then I'll leave that at the door.

And the day is about stopping discrimination, it never states it's opinion on being gay, just says someone shouldn't risk getting attacked for who they are.

Yeah, the blood thing is based off of the irrational thought that all gay men have AIDs, which they would be testing for anyway I would hope, instead of just taking peoples word for it that they don't have any diseases. And yeah, marriage is something that should stay in one of the nine billion threads on it.

Which is what the law was. Any two people of the same skin color could get marriedthus the ban on interracial marriage was not discrimination at all

I'm not talking about, or justifying what it WAS, i'm speaking of what the law is now. I don't think that the bible is against interracial marriage, but thats a completely different subject.

Back to the topic. Lets have a day of silence for all oppressed groups, it would be better for us all to have more listening than speaking, any way

uhmmm Actually most people who discriminated quoted the Bible as justification for doing so. Quoted it a lot. I heard many of those arguments first hand, when I got saved in the 70's and not by frothing at the mouth nuts either they were solid, serious Christians with Biblical arguments supporting their stand against inter-racial dating and marriage.

Only if you read the Bible in a bigoted way. And actually, people HAVE justified racial hatred, sexism and a lot else, including genocide, using the Bible. Of course they were using the Bible wrong.

But so are the homophobes who use the Bible to say that gay sex is wrong.
