They're going to give you a bunch of anecdotal, overly advertised Exodus "testimonies" you know.

Actually, a poster here has been "educating" us with the premise that there is a special deliverance ministry we are all unaware of, lol.

...though we know what happened with the founders of Exodus International, don't we? They married each other, said it's a scam and that it doesn't work. LOL!

I'm being sarcastic about believing it works, but there is someone here who actually says this exists.

Ah, I doubt a quick 5 step method would provide some kind of permanent cure. If anyone claims to offer some easy method I would seriously doubt where it's coming from. I do wonder how effective the ex-gay ministries are sometimes though, Its really a tough issue that I doubt can be figured out overnight.

I would go with every credible mental health foundation's assumption on it, in a heartbeat. They say there isn't any factual proof that it can be changed, and have statistical proof that it is very dangerous.

True, but I would also question that if factual proof and statistical proof is the only determining factor in what defines is someone has really been able to change their sexuality, I mean what proof could you even make? Someone's word? What if they are just lying to promote their company in attempts to make money? I guess you could conduct a series of test that would try and scientifically prove it. There just seems to be all these unknown factors involved, and the studies seem inconclusive at best. I don't presume to know what kind of method these Ex-gay ministries would be imposing, but I wouldn't jump ship to early either, their still may be some valid results coming from either side of the fence.

I would suggest you take a look at the ex-gay side of the fence and do some research, and see how alarmingly ridiculous it is. You may or may not come to the same conclusion as I did, but I would be very interested to know why you came to a different conclusion, and on what grounds. The only ones with a hidden agenda, are the ones with a religious one, and they will use all means necessary to try to make it fit.

Actually in support of what your saying I once was given a "Help with Homosexuality" kind of book from my father and it presumed to offer methods in which you could eventually break from Homosexuality's "grip". In the end I felt as though it didn't really offer any answers, it only told me to seek the support of others (which is kind of a cop-out answer because that seems so general). It reaffirmed that I was loved by God, but again it didn't really answer alot of questions i was having. Right now I've been wondering how a book like Wild at Heart may contribute to offer some insight into this... again i have the feeling that their may be some kind of "empty promises" by the end of the book but it seems to be saying a lot of stuff that rings true.

I read "Wild at Heart." There were some things that I really liked about that book. The illustrations of a man being adventurous were meaningful to me. I've found myself wanting to have adventures. So last winter I attempted to hike Mt. Washington. Almost made it, but my face gear wasn't working.

But the books does have these generic aspects of men and woman that it portrays as being there for all men and woman. I've talked to some that really had some problems with the later parts of the book. Yet, others have been helped by the book. So my advice is to read a book like this and see if it helps. I don't see it doing any harm.

Why do we need to try to "cure" something that is not an illness?

The only cure for sin is Jesus Christ.
You speak truth.
I don't like the nature of this topic, while I may not be the target, it just seems like you're trying to trap others. I don't think Jesus would want us doing this, considering how often he had to deal with it.

I think Jesus would want us to show perversions of the scripture.
