The biggest problem I have with the prosperity gospel is that, essentially, the emphasis is on living this life to the fullest. God's role is not that dissimilar to that of Santa Clause. In a sense, their views undermine the great sacrifices that martyrs made. You are almost viewed as being less spiritual if you can't by faith claim a successful and victorious life. In reality, it's the very opposite. It takes much more faith and spirituality to suffer and die for your faith.

I can't remember where I heard/read it, but a worship musician was showing another worship musician "the chord progression that sends everyone into a frenzy". It confirmed what I had believed for a long time.

To be fair to the charismatics, the ones I know of here are nice and generally follow the Bible. No craziness or prosperity among them.

If they aren't crazy or into the prosperity message and follow the Bible they will be considered Apostate Charismatics.

I think he is referring to those who hold some theological views that charismatics hold. I actually agree with some (very few) of their beliefs, yet I hate the prosperity message and don't consider myself to be a charismatic.

When I think Charismatics, I think of silly dancers, not the TBN sort. I really think you guys are misjudging them. I talked to theses guys on their section of the forums and they answered all of my questions. One of them in particular was really helpful to me. They're not all like my grandma, I swear!

When I think of charismatics, I think of the worship leader at my friend's church. He tries to manipulate people's emotions so that they respond in the way he wants. I've had him stare me down a few times because I didn't have my hands raised or fall in line.
