Toxic thread? No. It seems like no matter what the topic is, people always get off topic and argue controversial opinions anyway. I am trying to start a thread that can't get off topic because it can include whatever random opinions people want to express. but yes, it wouldn't surprise me if the mods quickly suppress this expression of free thought. I can see them coming now with jack boots and ban-hammers.

You are absolutely right about the flag. The flag in my avatar is not the flag of the Confederate government, it is the flag of the Army of Northern Virginia---the army of Robert E. Lee. General Lee, who did not own slaves, and the rest of the men in the Army of Northern Virginia (including my ancestors) were not fighting to preserve slavery, they were fighting to defend their country (state) against what they saw as a usurpation of power. The aims of the Confederate government might have been to preserve slavery, but that wasn't the aim of the vast majority of men that actually did the fighting.

you do have a good point about Palestine, the Palestinians have not always been good neighbors to Israel
and the acts of terrorism done by Palestine are horrible

I guess I am more sympathetic to a poor country that has been invaded and suppressed by a rich and strong country

like when the Irish were seeking independence from the UK, a lot of bad things happened
but it was the weak striking out at their oppressor
it is not an excuse for terrorism, but rather an explanation

as for Israel seeking "peace"
Israel has been oppressing Palestine, stealing land and killing on a whim
the "peace" Israel seeks is a continuation of the Status Quo, with their boots firmly planted on the neck of Palestine

you are probably right, there was no country called Palestine
but it was a region of many empires, from the Roman, the Byzantine to the Ottoman, and then the British
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mandatory_Palestine
they called it Palestine, both Jews and Arabs lived there

Israel invaded and occupied Palestine after the 6 Day War in 1967
yeah, Palestine made some serious mistakes

but so did Germany with WWII, we did not oppress them for 50 years
we helped them become a peaceful country with a strong economy
we did not keep them in a Ghetto like what Israel is doing to Palestine

as for the stuff about the Bible
Jesus is the King in the line of David, Jesus is the Messiah
so if the modern secular democratic nation-state of Israel that was created in 1948 is connected to the Biblical Israel, then all of them are traitors to their King
I do not really think a country made up by the British 1800 years after the destruction of Jerusalem (even then Israel was an occupied nation) can really claim to be linked to the biblical Israel

The thread itself is not toxic. It's the people who make it so. My point is, sooner or later this thread may catch the attention of more argumentative people, which will ultimately get it locked. Unfortunate, because I think we should all be adults enough to freely and 'civilly' express our controversial opinions.

Anyway, I wasn't knocking you. It's just that threads like these don't have good track records.

Good discussion, guys. It's refreshing having a more deeper talk to contribute or read through on here.

I agree

as for this thread getting locked
I am wondering, how much should we debate, and how much should we just let people share their views

like unless someone calls me out specifically, I do not think I am really going to question what other people say on here, it is their view

unless I am asking for them to clarify something

I dunno.... I will see what people say.... I might have to speak up on some things

I understand your points and agree to somewhat. The Jews are traitors to the King. They denied and crucified Him. But it says they will turn back towards Him. Right now they're concerned with building a third temple and considering ritualistic sacrifice like the days of old.

I was watching a wonderful video a few days ago of a guy in Israel laying out to Jews the bible verses about the Messiah, how He was to be persecuted and hated on by His own people, rejected, and killed. Apparently the verses that mention the Messiah have been removed from their Torah. These Jews said the prophecies reminded them of no one. Then they said Jesus and were deep in thought. One Jew said there seems to be a mental block when it comes to Jesus. I felt that was significant.

The events that unfolded, with Jesus being rejected and crucified, HAD to happen. It almost seems like there is a supernatural block over their eyes. But other prophecies state the Jews will return to their homeland from the north, south, east, and west and that's what they're doing. The temple will be rebuilt and all of that, but they will at some accept their Messiah and return to the fold. So I've always been taught we must support them and pray for their return and salvation.

I hope my bringing up points and asking questions about Jews wasn't confrontational. Sometimes that's the tone that comes out in my words, but it is in no way the intention in which I speak or mean it.

you did not sound overly confrontational

you brought up some interesting points, and it gave me a chance to flesh out my ideas
reading over things I see that I did leave out the crimes and aggressive actions by Palestine, giving only a one sided view of the issue

hey, if you happen to find that vid about the guy preaching in Israel, you should share it

Apparently the verses that mention the Messiah have been removed from their Torah
that sounds kind of unlikely?
the Jews have a deep respect for their scripture
it is more likely that those verses are just not focused on by modern Jews because it supports the Christian view of Jesus as Messiah

I hate obummer with every fiber of my being.
Lol when I was on a conspiracy site all the time some years back I was almost sure he was the antichrist. That man called him Mohbama instead hahaha and the other one on that white horse was also the antichrist, Romney, but when he didn't become president Obama had to be it.
I don't trust him though and think he's a muslim or a shriner, but almost all those American presidents are Freemasons.

I don't think the anti-Christ will be a U.S. president. The bible talks about him coming from eastern Europe. Hitler would've fit perfectly. In fact, I think there are a lot of guys throughout history who could've fit the mold. But it's interesting to think...God knows when the end will be. The devil does not. So the devil has had to keep some guys stashed away, don't you think? Or he tried several times and failed because it wasn't God's timing. I do think America will fall.

This might sound strange, but after the last election when Obama was reelected, I had a very strong feeling that it would be the last American election. I thought something big would happen. Either Obama will declare martial law, the bottom will fall out of the system, or a major event will change the world. And seeing how everything is speeding up prophecy wise, I might've been right.

I think that he is definitely a Christian-hater and Muslim-sympathizer, but I think that he is more concerned with worshiping himself than following any organized religion. Above all else he is a narcissist, and his own god.

He definitely is a race-baiter, and strives to create as much hate and disunion as he can. He is the most divisive president of our times, and he has fractured this nation far more than any piece of cloth ever could.

And you know what else? I think that some of these jellyfish Christians are the reason why stuff that Christians don't like gets done. And the worst part? I think I might be one of them sometimes.

Yes. He promised us changed, but it's the wrong kind of changed. He has set us back more than any other president. He has wasted more money than every other president combined and with no results. He has divided us and made us weaker as a whole.

Hmm...well, I don't like homosexuality's and sexual experimentation's rampant promotion among young people that are just starting to figure out their sexuality. The culture keeps saying that you're born gay and then it's permanent...but they'll also admit that sexuality is fluid. Mine was at that age. I hate the idea of someone else telling people they were once my age to go have tons of sex and "figure out what you like". That isn't safe, and you shouldn't have his attitude that it will all be fun and games and won't matter anyway.

I have a few opinions about religious topics that might be considered controversial. I'll try to briefly explain the reasons why I won't post them here:

If you had a precious jewel, would you put it on display among rubbish and trash? Wouldn't you present it in on a showcase that that was clean and new, resting on a beautiful velvet cushion?

Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that I necessarily disagree with all the opinions presented in this thread, there have certainly been presented a few good thoughts so far. Yet, when you have been entrusted with a valuable (yet controversial) truth, you'll generally want to avoid getting it associated with controversial stuff that reek of sensationalism or self-delusion.

If you found a jewel in a dusty box filled with useless and broken things you would most likely conclude that it was fake or worthless, wouldn't you? This is called the association fallacy, but we're unfortunately very susceptible to it. Unfortunately many precious truths have been virtually universally ignored by Christendom due to this fallacy.

Wow that's probably the most egotistical post I've ever seen. I'm glad you have all the truth of the universe and everyone else's version is trash. Maybe we should build a temple in your honor so you can bestow these great truths upon us?

Also, you're not meant to keep the truth of the gospel locked up and hidden away. It's meant to be shared. It's meant to be taken to the lowest of lows and weakest of the weak. It's medicine for the sick, food for the hungry, and clothing for the naked. If something is broken, it's meant to be fixed with truth.
