  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

because of this.....

why? does freer and less stodgy equate with allowing sin? veering away from the bible? etc?

seems to me the most liberal denominations and groups are some of the most mainstream denominations, and are NOT charismatic - united church, anglican (yeah, i know not all, but it's there), methodist, etc.

seems to me that it is not accurate to equate charismatic churches with liberalism.

btw, our church is very charismatic and modern, but very bible based and very NON liberal.

Aren't Pentecostals Charismatic?

sort of. though they operate in the "charisma" (spiritual gifts), pentecostals are more structured. charismatics are a little looser, a little MORE "charisma" showing. i think, also, that charismatics tend to be less hierarchical in the church - there seems to be more emphasis of the priesthood of the believer - every believer, and that every joint supplies for the body - not just the pastors and elders.

that's my understanding, anyways.
