I was going to try out an Episcopal church but then had found out that there is a split. I then read what the elected head of the Episcopal church said to time magazine!?!?! I am not worried so much about the Gay issue, but
Katharine Jefferts Schori the head bishop of the Episcopal denies that Jesus is the only way and sounds more like a unitarian than a Christian.

What is going on with this???? I am very saddened that the Episcopal church seems to have departed from orthodox Christianity. Am I wrong? What is the deal with this. How can someone stay in a church with a bishop that says such things. Wow.. I am sad about this. Help me to understand!

Well, the impression you have is essentially correct, although you can find orthodox clergy if you look long enough. However, the church's slide has not been without consequences. Less than a third of the people who called themselves Episcopalians a couple of generations ago still do. The church is in dire financial straits from all the membership losses.

Three whole dioceses recently voted to leave her, and there are hundreds and hundreds of parishes made up of former Episcopalians now in new parishes. Usually they call themselves "Anglican" so as not to be taken for Episcopalians. In short, be aware that you have other choices. There are many Anglican churches in the USA which are NOT affiliated with the Episcopal Church, and these are almost all of the kind you would like to find. If you are actively searching, give me a PM with your locale and I'll see if there is such a parish near you. You might also like to take a look at Wikipedia's "Continuing Anglican movement" page.

Is this any surprise though? When you've got folks who throw out God's Word and make sin "acceptable" in the Church, is it any wonder that they wuld deny Jesus Christ as the only Way?

Bishop Schori is one of the biggest reasons we are having problems today in the church. She should never have been elected but unfortunately we are stuck with her until the next election.

Some of us ANGLICANS are not at all happy with the Episcopalian Church. I have contemplated going elsewhere. The good Bishop Robinson in New Hampshire is also one of the reasons I am unhappy with the way the church is moving,

Nope, the reasons for the problems in the Episcopal Church come from the lack of compassion and hard-heartedness of the conservative factions.

Since the conservatives and moderates have not enough numbers to affect any policy decision in The Episcopal Church, that assessment is laughable.

But maybe if all one knows about the situation comes from reading certain publications from half a world away, it might seem to be as you say.

Indeed. When I looked into the Episcopal church I found much the same and I quickly backed away. Wayward Bishops, be they women with crazy leanings or outright homosexuals isn't really all that frightening. What is frightening is that people are having to completely leave the church to get away from such. What is the point of having an episcopate if nothing can be done about these kinds of issues. I don't attend an apostolic church just because I like to hang around men in funny hats.
