Definition of Ore Refining by Fire
A prospector friend put crushed copper-gold ore in a crucible, then into a small backyard blast furnace. The mixture melted in the crucible. After it cooled, the slag was at the top of the crucible and a metal lump was at the bottom. The crucible was broken with a hammer. He hit the vitreous slag with a hammer and recovered the metal lump. A further refining process extracted a yellow button from the mixed metal lump.
Not sure if this is of any use to you, only offering a definition of refining and dross.
10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.
Is this the fire that will try everyone's works? On That Day?
1 Corinthians 3:15. If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved,
yet so as through fire.
Will anything pass through the fire, but the fruit of the Spirit?
God knows how to refine. He melted the roots of mountains turning rock into magma and lava:That's useful information, but I expect that just as God's ways and thoughts are far above ours, His methods of refining are far above that of the prospector/miner/smelter of this Earth. I did a long word study of "fire" and related words, and found among other things, that God describes Himself as a refiner many times in His Word, and once as Soap.
Speak for yourself. The dross, tares, chaff, wood, hay and stubble will NOT pass through the Fire. God is a refiner, and He burns away all that is not acceptable to Him. These things are not classes of people, for we all have dross, etc. within us, goats and sheep alike.
Speak for yourself.
Jesus has freed some of us from sinning. (John 8:32-34, Rom 6:7)
The chaff and stubble ARE people.
It is written..."And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts." (Gal 5:24)The dross, etc, are both people and the flesh within each of us.
The baptism of fire, what is it? When does it occur?
Daniel 3:7. So at that time, when all the people heard the sound of the horn, flute, harp, and lyre, in symphony with all kinds of music, all the people, nations, and languages fell down and worshiped the gold image which King Nebuchadnezzar had set up.During the time of Daniel the three Hebrew men who refused to bow down to the image were baptized by fire. They were protected by the fourth man in the fire with them.
Daniel 3:7. So at that time, when all the people heard the sound of the horn, flute, harp, and lyre, in symphony with all kinds of music, all the people, nations, and languages fell down and worshiped the gold image which King Nebuchadnezzar had set up.
A foreshadowing?
Revelations 7:9. After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb,
clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands,
V. 14; So he said to me, These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
If you are righteous, you receive the Holy Spirit who is our helper. You are blessed.Matthew 3:11. I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry.
He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
Luke 3:16. John answered, saying to all, I indeed baptize you with water; but One mightier than I is coming, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to loose.
He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
The disciples of Jesus Christ were baptized with the Holy Spirit.
They laid hands on new converts who received the Holy Spirit.
