The Ark?

So Noah puts 7 of every animal onto the Ark. The ark is 400 something feet long and 75 feet high.

God wipes out everything else on earth.

Somebody explain to me how on earth we have such a variety of creatures, if the basis of them all lived on a boat so small? There isn't any possible way Noah could have gathered 7 of every animal and fit them onto that Ark, it just isn't going to happen. Not to mention everything else that would have gone wrong, animals attacking each other, attacking people, fighting, etc. This just seems too weird to me.

Even with a boat the size of a small state there wouldn't be enough room for seven of every animal, not to mention the pair of clean animals to go along with them.

Explain plz?

However does not talk about God helping out Noah, or magically expanding the inside of the boat as it usually does in the Bible; It almost always does what it can to show the power of God. Here it is simply God telling Noah what to do, but nothing of God's involvement in the project.

I once heard the theory that this could mean each type, not subspecies. Like dog, ...not wolf, coyote, great dane, fox etc. Cat, not bobcat, cougar, lion, housecat etc. I don't know where the idea came from.

First, Noah had two of each unclean animal on the Ark and seven of the clean animals and birds. (cf. Gen.7:2,3). Better brains than mine have calculated the volumetric space in the Ark and have concluded that it was physically possible. Whether Noah kept them in cages and pens so they didn't attack each other is open to speculation or whether they were simply so stunned by everything going on that they didn't eat each other, who knows? One thing we do know - they didn't lack for drinking water.

The Ark was about the same size as the USS Kitty Hawk, an aircraft carrier

Really? I'd like to hear your reasons for this. I'm not being patronising or anything, I would truely like to know.
Because, in my view, Jesus spoke of Genesis events as real, as well as Paul, and I'm sure that therefore the rest of the appostles would have agreed with them.
I think saying that Genesis is symbolic is a way of giving into secular thought, and not making up our own minds as individuals.
However, those are my thoughts. What about yours?

I'm sorry? How would you know that I have an account there if you weren't browsing there yourself? =P But thanks for reminding me. Thats where I'll be posting once the new year comes around. And I promise you that I am not a troll. Just a de-convert thanks to the other lovely members of this forum... now if you read the letter in my sig, I am sure you will understand.

Now having said that, you people need to STOP harassing me because I'm not in the Jesus club. I'm seriously getting tired of it. I mean I guess you wouldn't do it in the real world.. Picking on teenagers because you disagree with them isn't the best way to go about doing things. But thankfully I'll be gone and I won't have everyone on my tail all of the time because I believe differently this time. You christians really know how to bring people "together" and spread the "love" around, don't you? For cripes sake.

Secular thought, biblical thought.. whats the difference anymore when the world revolves around it and most of the general population is christian? But if you read my post, I really do mean that it is sad that I cannot be convinced otherwise. I'd really like to believe that the nephilim existed amongst other things. I mean, I really do... but there is just no possible way.

Hey whoa! what's a nephilim, is that something from that link I posted. The other side of this mess we all have to live in doesn't mean I'm in the Majority, true it is sad, I would be there to help you if you wanted any lessons. Genesis is fully the truth and fully inspired by God but it must be read in context of how the writer intended it. In the case of Noah it can be said it truly is a historical fact but the reference to the animals could be based on the writers conception of the World to him. This means the World could have been all they knew or merely a continent and not the entire globe.

Read the Bible. Genesis chapter six. Demons had children with humans. And God was angry so he decided to drown them all. Simple really, but not likely.

Yeah, the nephillim were the kids that came from the odd pairings... One of the banned books of the bible actually goes in more detail about it. The book of Enoch, i believe. I don't know, its interesting.. but like I said, not likely.

7 of each kind. Male and female. Fourteen total. However this was only the "clean" animals, not the unclean. Of the unclean it was "two by two" or one of each.

Actually, God made it rain. Those that rejected Noah's preaching wound up actually destroying themselves by rejecting the message.

Obviously you've never been on a ship that was close to five hundred feet long, 75 feet wide and 45 feet tall. That's a fairly large boat.

Noah wasn't instructed to take every animal in the world but simly take two of each kind. So if there were 30 species of canines in the world at the time Noah fulfilled this requirement by taking 1 kind but two of each.

There isn't any possible way Noah could have gathered 7 of every animal and fit them onto that Ark, it just isn't going to happen.

That might explain why God did not require that of Noah.

Not to mention everything else that would have gone wrong, animals attacking each other, attacking people, fighting, etc. This just seems too weird to me.

I would imagine that Gos was smart enough to think ahead and provide Hoah instruction on how to handle this situation. obviously it wasn't that big of a deal. All eight souls aboard the Ark departed safely.
