Below is dealing with the anointing of the Holy Spirit, which is needed in the lives of Christians because of the many temptations, heartbreaks, etc... that we may face. Without it, your life will be empty and defeat will rear it's ugly head often.
The Anointing of God
It is a priveledge to be able to walk in the anointing of God. I feel led to discuss the possibility of losing the presence of this promise in our lives. If a believer chooses to quench the Holy Spirit, and go against the direction the Holy Spirit, after a period of time, The lord will remove his spirit from his temple, Which is our body. You will still be convicted to do what's right, but the power of the Holy Spirit will not be present with one who willfully sins and rejects.
How does our bodies receive comparison to a temple?
Temple-a place of worship(Websters)
Sanctuary- Holy place(websters)
A temple is a place of worship, which is a holy place. Another word to describe a holy place is "Sanctuary", which is a place set apart for sacred or holy purposes according to the meanings of the words in the dictionary.
If you read in the Bible 1 corinthians 6:19, you will discover that our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit. In other words, our bodies are a living sanctuary.
Keeping this in mind, turn to the book of Ezekiel and read the 8th verses 2-6. The Lord showed the profit Ezekiel on of many sins being committed in his sanctuary. In verse 6, he mentions leaving his sanctuary because of these sins.
God doesn't NOT dwell with sin. He despises sin. He always has and always will despise sin.He does not like Idol worship. He is a jealous God. He will never change concerning sin/idols. He will not dwell in place that serves idols(Things exalted above God in one's life).Knowing that our bodies are the sanctuary that the Lord dwells in, we must keep sin and idol worship from dwelling in our hearts, without any resistance on our part, or else we risk the possibility of the Lord leaving his sanctuary as he did in Israel. This is why we must protect ourselves from sin. It puts us at risk of losing Gods anointing, which is the Holy Spirit of God. If this happens, we lose our power over Satan and become slaves to his traps(Addictions are one of perhaps several signs of losing the power of the Holy Spirit to defeat sin).
Romans 6:16
Don't you know that when you offer yourselves to someone to obey him as slaves, you are slaves to the one whom you obeywhether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness?
(Whole Chapter:
Romans 6
In context: Romans 6:15-17)
Again, What is Gods anointing exactly?
To be consecrated, to be set apart for sacred purposes, to dedicate.(Websters)
Knowing this, I understand that Gods anointing means that he sets his believers apart for sacred purposes or more commonly referred to as "his will for us."
Does a person just receive Gods anointing by force?
First of all, God is NOT going to forcefully give anyone anything if he or she does not want him in their personal life. I In Malachi 3:16-18, God speaks of his intentions regarding those who believe and fear him.
I believe in my heart that the word "spare" ,as used in the dictionary, means the same thing as being "set apart" or "consecrated", which means anointing. Right before Jesus ascended to heaven, he said that he would send the promise of his father, which is the precious Holy Spirit.
Scripture References: Luke 24:49, 1 John 2:27
I want to illustrate to you that the Holy Spirit is Gods anointing.
Isaiah 61:1-5
As you read the above verses, notice the first few
words; "The spirit of the Lord is upon me; because he
hath ANOINTED me to preach.....
After reading the previous scriptures, I pray that you understand what Gods anointing is and how to receive it. We who fear and believer in the Lord Jesus Christ are set apart from those who dont believe.
John 15
19If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.
