This is an oldy.

The answer is that you can't make a meaningless phrase meaningful by putting "can God" in front. By the same token God can't make 2+2=5, but that isn't a limitation on Him.

Good question. Let me ask YOU a question: Is a line longer than a ray? A line goes forever in both directions. A ray goes forever in one direction. Is the line longer? God's strength is symbolized by the line and the boulder is the ray.

Done creating? Where did He say that? Scriptures please.
Genesis. The word for 'finished' meant something that was utterly done and never again meant to occur. First law of thermodynamics. It's as true as saying that the universe is wearing out (prophets talking about the heavens 'passing away' in various places) which is law # 2. Can God create still? Of course, but His word says that He is done creating.
Can He? Yes. Will He? No, because He said He's done.

You know, I would LOVE to take the credit for coming up with this question, but i cant, since I didnt come up with it, I only posed it here.

Also, I fail to understand the notion of your ''he has stoped creating'' (another in the line of many contradictions in the bible, but thats another thread alltoghether) so anything that happens from whatever point is not actually God's creation because he stopped creating?
So anyone that is born is not actually God's creation, because he has stopped creating (while back as i understand). Any trees that grow after he has stopped creating are not his creation as he has - as you claim - stop creating?

Radagast, what makes you think that 2+2 doesnt equal five? The numbers are simple observation passed on as facts.
The question posted was made with the GOD in front of it in the first place.

But since you seem to have all the answers I would like to ask you WHY 2+2 is 4? There, another philosophical question for you sprung up for you.

Note - ''because it just is'' is not a legitimate answer.

All input appreciated.

PS. I am trying to understand the frustration you are all feeling because someone questiones your religion - but theres no need for rudness. If you truly believe what you tell me, then im sure you can preah without an attitude. Thank you.

I know. This isn't the first thread with this exact question as the OP. No biggie
Also, I fail to understand the notion of your ''he has stoped creating'' (another in the line of many contradictions in the bible, but thats another thread alltoghether)
It's not a contradiction. In fact, even man's science is in total agreement that nothing can be created out of nothing. You misunderstand the word 'creation'. To create means to bring into existance where there was nothing to bring it forth from. God has created all the matter and energy that exists, as the first law of thermodynamics states. To birth does not mean to create. Is a mother a creator? Of course not. She is just a mother. Her body did not create the baby; just supplied the materials to form the baby. God still forms things (ie clouds) but He does not create them, for they already 'are'. Is your conflict satisfied? 1 1

How many? 2

1 1 1 1
How many? 4

:. 2 2 is 4

WHY? Because 4 being shorthand for 1 1 1 1 makes organization possible and we like being organized.

syllogistic reasoning. Logic makes some sense, sometimes . If that answer is not satisfactory, then we really cannot answer it, as we would need to define "is" and what exactly this + means.
PS. I am trying to understand the frustration you are all feeling because someone questiones your religion - but theres no need for rudness. If you truly believe what you tell me, then im sure you can preah without an attitude. Thank you.
No frustration. It's all for discussion's sake.

Infinity plus one = infinity

God's power is infinite. To say that something is greater than infinite is a logical contradiction, and yes, that DOES invalidate your question, because any logical answer I could give would be wrong, because your question is illogical. If you like; I could give you a completely illogical answer, and it would be just as wrong as any logical one.

My answer:
God is infinite.
God stands outside of our universe.
A rock is a creation inside that universe.
Creation is finite.
Therefore; turtles have different colored shells.

To say that I cannot answer your question does not in any way limit the infinite power of God, it simply demonstrates that you and I are not infinite in knowledge , and have to take some things on faith.

BTW: how would you answer this question?

Hi there!

The question that you need to be asking yourself is not "is it possible for God to make a rock so big...."

But the more important thing to understands is that God made the tree that would be used in the crucifixion of Christ. God made the iron for the nails that would pierce the hands and feet of the Savior. God made the spear that would pierce the heart of Jesus on that tree. God made the animal that would die for the leather in the cat-o-nine tails that would inbed glass and stone cuts in the body of the beaten and bruised Christ. God made the thorns that would be used in the crown that would shed the blood of Christ from the temple mount to Golgotha.

Does it matter how big a rock is... if God created it?

God is big enough.
