  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I think this feeling, thankfulness, should be addressed outside of the month November. Because God has give us more then we deserve, he sent his son to die on calvary, he loves us, and so much more. What an awesome God we have. We should be forever thankful for what he did for us, has done, and what he will do.

While I do believe that everyone should be thankful outside of Thanksgiving, take this time to express how you are Thankful for God, for what awesome things he does for you, or other things that at the time don't seem so awesome but all-in-all just draw you closer to him and his love.

I have a lot to be Thankful for, so I will start, and possibly add more later on.

First of all I am so Thankful that God loves me, how he loved me so much that he saved me from eternal death because of my own sins.
I am also thankful for the family he has put me in. My parents are the ones that have sowed the seed that needed to be put in me, so I can continue to grow in Christ.
I am also very thankful for how I can so freely express my love for God so openly here in America. I so hope that people in countries less excepting of God can stay strong in their belief despite the discouragement around them.
I am very thankful that upon praying for my eyes to heal, they were, in the most bizarre way no one can deny it was the power of God.
I am thankful for the boy God has put in my life, Aaron, for he has helped me with my own faith and is willing to work with me to become a better person.
I am thankful that God is there to talk to whenever and to help me when I need help or when I just want to talk to him.

Those are just a few things. There is so much to be thankful for and most of the time I don't even address it in my head. I should shout it out and express Gods glory and how he helps me so. If anything with a simple, Thank you, Thank you God, my friend.

Greetings my friend it is good to see you back. This is a great topic, I am surprised that I am the first to add to what you have written.
There are so many things to be thankful for and not just on these days in November but everyday.
I am thankful that God has seen fit to raise this man out of the trash heap that I thought was life. From the degradation of addiction and sin. I am thankful to our blessed savior who came to live among us and give his precious blood for our redemption. I am thankful for all of my children who bring me joy, even when they make mistakes. I am even thankful for my afflictions that caused me to cry out to God. Creation is so beautiful and how it reflects the Glory of God. I could go on and on and especially thankful for the High Tower that we can run to, for he cares for us even when we are not watchful for our own selves.
Thanks are also given for my brothers and sisters who I am able to share His love with here at this amazing site.

Yes I have been pretty busy and I just didnt think to come on here. But I have found myself not diving into Gods word as much as I would like. And so I figured I could come on here and get inspired and motivated. In which the other board I was at "God is In Control" was very helpful. In the sense that topic was the very topic that made me doubt my faith and turn from God a few years past because the controversy made me doubt his existence. Ever since then I have avoided the topic. However I love seeing how much at peace I am with the topic and how I believe I better understand it. I prayed for him to help me be at peace and he has answered my prayer. Another thing I am so very thankful for. If only I knew this years ago I could by pass my years full of shame that he brought me out of. However, that I am sure was a learning experience and a way God would show himself to me. In which I am also thankful.

I am so glad he is being so good to both of you. =)
Just keep praying and being thankful for his wonderful love and involvement in your life. It sure is amazing.

The other board I was at "God is In Control" was very helpful.

I am so thankful that God sees the bigger picture. I've been going through a transition period over the past few months - leaving college and my ministries there and getting prepared for marriage and new ministries that may open up - and have really felt unused lately. So I thought I'd come on here to see if God had any opportunities for me - that "God's in Control" thread not only helped you in your walk, but it opened my eyes to the reality that God still wants to use me. It just goes to show that God is a whole lot cooler than I think, and He continues to amaze me every day I open my eyes and look for Him.

I am just thankful He's chosen me. And that He hasn't given up on me.

And that He has so much more in store for me.

"Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." - 1Thessalonianas 5:16-18

This is one of my favorite verses. I love the reminder that we are supposed to be joyful, prayerful, and thankful in ALL circumstances (and all year round).

Even as Christians, who have been given and forgiven much, it's easy to fall into the trap of focusing on our problems and the things that are going wrong, instead of taking the time to count our blessings and give thanks.

Today I am thankful for all that I've been blessed with, and choose to be joyful in spite of the things I'm living without!

I have been kind of busy and a little procrastinator. But after I read this a few days ago it was like minutes before my boyfriend came here to my house. And well he was showing me this passage he had been reading. And it was so cool to see the last line on it. It totally applied to this response of yours. I wish I would have replied sooner to you. But you should take a look at it. It is 1 Corinthians 12. I am pretty sure that is right.

But reading your response, boyfriend coming over/showing that to me....it just made me believe even more that things happen for a reason. And this reason was to share that passage to you. =) I hope it helps you.

Maybe if we can keep this thread going it will be a good reminder for people to be thankful throughout the year not just one day.

I really liked that last sentence in your post, that is how we all should be.

God is only working in out best interests, whether we like it at the time or not. And when did God say our life would be easy? Its not. So everything we have we should be thankful for.

God bless. =)

I read this quote recently, and it has stuck with me: "God doesn't give you the people you want; He gives you the people you NEED...to help you, to hurt you, to leave you, to love you and to make you into the person you were meant to be."

As someone who has been hurt and left a lot in my life, it's good to remember that even the pain has a purpose, and that God WILL work all things for good for those who love Him. I'm thankful for that!

iloveringyou, I'm all for keeping this thread going.

blueskye, Amen. I'm thankful for being chosen and loved too.

The joy of walking with Christ every day, knowing He is guiding us through, is awesome. I am thankful to the Lord for always being there for me, and for those who seek Him. I thank Him for His grace so beautifully given to all of us, and His grace to the lost who seek Him, upon accepting Him as their saviour.

My prayers daily reminds me of how little and nothing I am without Him, and that is so uplifting to know He makes me complete. Truly complete.

Jesus is my passion, my focus, my desire...

Praising God in all things at all times is the attitude I want. It is amazing that when we are going through rough times, If we get our attention off of the waves and storm and onto God, the joy breaks through. I learned this long ago through a book by Merlin Corothers called Prison to Praise. The act of praise is the opposite of grumbling. In the times of Moses the people complained and had to go through the wilderness for 40 years. Praise is faith in practice even when we do not see the blessings. Trusting that God knows what we need and that we are His workmanship, even in the hard painful times. So I am thankful and full of praise even in the struggles of life that God allows.

I thoroughly enjoy when something goes out, like heating/cool/sewer messes up...well not because if costs money to fix but it really makes me appreciate the luxuries we have more. And I love that feeling.

I know what you mean, I have been to the rescue mission with my boyfriend and his family as they sang praise music for them. And just to see some of them stand up, tearing up, getting into the whole thing is just a blessing in itself. God can comfort those people even in hardship, we cant(but we do) take him so for granted. And go to things that is very encouraging. I have always wanted to help those in need- supplying them with a home or food. But just seeing them getting supplied with the word of God was just so surreal.

I love reading these posts also, its so encouraging. =) And everyones posts remind me of many other things in my life I am thankful for.

Today has been a good day. That in itself I am thankful for.

However I been given the opportunity to listen to my dads preaching.(I am normally working in the nursery) And the way he preaches really sticks for me. Mostly because I am part of his life so when he is referencing something I generally know the whole story behind it. (assuming it has to do with his life or mentioning of something that happened during the week in our household) Also he bring in concepts that get me interested in what he is saying. He has different analogies having to do with a few board games. But the way he relates it to most human/families lives really helps. And today his sermin really inspired me more and more to get more involved. I mean I have been trying to get more and more involved in the Church...but I want to get more involved with the community. Or help get the community more involved in the church. Almost like I have found my calling...my purpose. And I am thankful for these constant eye openers that have been making their way into my life.

I just pray that I can be the person God wants me to be.

One of my old friends that I grew away from(my sisters, sister-in-law) and then in the years of not talking she found out that she had cancer(at 15 years old)...I did not want to suddenly start talking to her again as so she wouldn't get the impression I am just talking to her because she has cancer...but I didnt want something to happen to her while I at one point was trying to guide her to the path of God. However, I was not consistant, while I knew she was wishy washy with her beliefs...But now like a month ago(we have occasionally talked the passed year- maybe a comment or two like every three months if that) I looked and he religion on myspace said she was a Christian, she is on her last week of radiation(I think she is done fighting all the cancer now, hopefully it wont come back) and she has began talking to me with long emails. I am just so thankful for the whole situation. And if she is sincerely a christian and can grow with God she can be used as a great tool in witnessing to people going through all that she has gone through.

I have so much more to be thankful for. God is so good and loving, I love him.

Reviving the board, thankfulness needs to be remembered to give to our lord.

I am so very thankful for the New Year, you have provided a whole new year for us to dwell here and proclaim your name to those whom you have called that need some nudging to get to you.
I am also thankful that you have been keeping me and Aaron strong in our relationship together I only hope the you can become the center of the relationship again and continue to be. Not that you are out of it I just belie that we should be constantly praising and thanking you for all the time you have already given us and all the help you give us along the way as were are growing together and in you.
I thank you for putting my eyes on a good wave of health, they actually don't hurt aside from the straining right now. And that is just simply amazing.
And thank you God for staying by my side even when I am too self-absorb to acknowledge your presences.

I think we spend too much time asking God for new things in life that we don't take the time to realize what God has sent us that is standing right in front of us. We keep asking for more, when we have the capability to be happy if only we would realize how much God has already given us.

I am thankful for my family.
I am thankful that I have a home.
I am thankful for music.
I am thankful for writing.
I am thankful for love, for happiness, and for strength.
I am thankful for God's eternal forgiveness.
I am thankful for life, and even for death.
I am thankful for the courage God shares with me, and the light he gives me so that I can find my way through the struggles in life. I am thankful for all he has given me.
