my first internet account back in 1990 was text based dialup. I thought it was great at the time, but looking back I laugh.

I used:

tin for newsgroups
pine for mail
lynx for web.

all text based, black and white. no graphics.

the internet has come a long way since then. I used AOL once... when they use to charge per-hour.

My first months bill was $120!!

I cancelled service after that bill. lol

Now it's free :-D.

Now we have CSS, PHP, RSS, etc etc etc that we develop complex and dynamic websites with.

Now we have advanced graphics creation softwear so anyone can make awesome graphics for a webpage.

Now you can legally [and illegally] download music, videos, data and more.

In 2055, all that I mentioned will be as old as what you mentioned. What you menioted will be stone age. Literally.

Hey, seems that my CLI advocacy is shared among some people I use lynx at least once a week, but I couldn't get past the firewall in the school computers to install a windows port of lynx . I also use mutt for my email, but I have no interest in newsgroups. But above all, I use the CLI almost exclusively for work and the GUI for fun. That means that my assignments get written in VIM(using LaTeX, what else!), with a command line TODO list(tdl), a command line tool for my calendar(pal), a tool to keep my contacts(rolo). Sometimes I listen to music with ncmpc and mpd. Well, I think I've gone off the topic, woops! BTW, I also dislike flash. My church decided to use flash for the side menu! ARGHHHH
