Besides if we let the 10 commandments in, everything else will have to be allowed, and you won't be able to walk in the door for all of the plaques, etc. You know the ones, "Allah was here", "Muslimfast"
I just NO I'm going to get "warned" for this one, but I really could NOT help myself!!
honorthesabbath said:Very good points Laine. And your right--when I first heard of the Judge Roy Moore contraversy over the Ten Commandments in his court yard, I was franky amused and for the same reason you stated. Because Judge Moore is a baptist if I recall correctly and "they" will fight you to the hilt that the Ten were "nailed to the cross"!! This seems a bit hypocritical to me.
Besides--I would rather ppl LIVE the Ten instead of making expensive monuments to them!! After all--didn't God say that the new covenant was "HIM" writing those laws upon our hearts and minds?? For the renewing of them??
Heb 8:10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:

TrustAndObey,As Adventists I'm sure that most of us want to jump up and down and say "GREAT IDEA, God has been taken out of our judicial system! Bring Him back in!" We are, after all, one church that definitely stands firm on their importance to God, right?
Airdude said:My first reaction is to say yes the ten commandments belong in the courtroom, but on second thought do I really want judges who are just men and women enforcing their earthly interpretations of God's laws. I think I really don't want that. I do believe that is what the future holds for us though.
The big question I have in all of this, is do we, as Adventists, fight and get this delayed as long as possible so we can get the message out to as many people as possible before we'll be legally prosecuted for obeying God? Do we have an obligation to let prophesy happen (maybe even help it along) or to spread the message first?

Those who live during the last days of this earth's history
will know what it means to be persecuted for the truth's sake.
In the courts injustice will prevail. The judges will refuse to
listen to the reasons of those who are loyal to the commandments
of God, because they know that arguments in favor of the fourth
commandment are unanswerable. They will say, "We have a
law, and by our law he ought to die." God's law is nothing to
them. "Our law" with them is supreme. Those who respect this
human law will be favored, but those who will not bow to the
idol sabbath will have no favors shown them.
THere are more SOP texts on us just not sitting back and not fighting immoral laws--it will take me some t ime--but I will find them. This is a good topic!!! One we ALL need to be studying--"FOR THE TIME IS AT HAND"!!

Gee, wonder who I'm talking about
Even though I agree with your stance on the TC I would point out that this approach does not fit with the biblical example. The Bible tells us that "all these things" were written as an example. I would turn your attention to the story of Jonah. He was told to prophecy to NIneveh that it was to be destroyed in 40 days. If the Ninevites had taken your approach they would have been destroyed in 40 days. As it stands, they decided not to be paralysed by learned helplessness and got up and did something to change their future. We should not be sitting ducks.SassySDA said:Personally, I'm leaving it alone...let things play out the way we know they are going to have to.
Could you explain what you mean by "earthly interpretations of God's laws?" I may be reading you wrongly so I need some clarification.Airdude said:but on second thought do I really want judges who are just men and women enforcing their earthly interpretations of God's laws.
honorthesabbath said:OH WOW--I sure will!!!!! I don't think I have your address--you have my e-mail--so please send it to me!! Oh my--you'll LOVE that book!!!! Do you have "Desire of Ages"?? If not--I'll send you a copy of that one too!!!

The fact is that this is not an attempt to get the Ten Commandments into the court, but to get a monument into the court. How many monuments can we fit into one courtroom?StormyOne said:A monument of the 10 commandments... how is it different from an idol? The monument Judge Moore had made weighed over a ton...
It is my opinion that the courts need to keep focused on judicial things and leave this alone...
Actually in Judge Moore's case he wanted the momument and his version of Christianity.... and that is why he was ultimately removed from office.....statrei said:The fact is that this is not an attempt to get the Ten Commandments into the court, but to get a monument into the court.
