  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I don't know how popular this thread is going to be, but I was wondering where you might be putting your tax refund tithe. Not everyone does the 10 percent thing, but it might be helpful, if you do, to post information on the charities Catholic or non so people might be interested in supporting it. I sometimes am unaware of orders or charities but thanks to you guys I learn about them everyday.

Here are two places I am going to put a portion of my tithe to:

www.fssp.com

The Sagrada Familia Cathedral in Spain is a wonderful Cathedral in the process of being built now for almost 100 years. It's architect Antoni Gaudi, the famous Catalan artist now beautified by the Pope had a wonderful style.

Aid to the Church in need is a good charity.

The general work it does it:

Restoring hundreds of churches around the world. It also Supporta poor seminarians in priestly training around the world and in wartorn countries.

Its most famous project is in translating and giving out copies of a simple children's bible to kids for free all around the world in their own language

Many children are simply so poor that they could never afford a bible and Aid to the church in need has distributed more than 40 million copies in 120 languages to poor children in areas like- Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Kenya and china.

I must admit that we really just tithe to our parish and our diocese and our second collections, and we give food to the food bank, and recycle our clothing by giving it away...

My hubby makes less than $25,000 and we are a family of 5- so I don't really end up giving as much as I would like! Hey - wait a minute- I could make us a charity!! LOL!!

I guess I would add to the list of worthwhile causes:
