• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

ive heard others talk about this before, even at a meeting the other night.

ive had several, spaced out a few months apart. had one a couple nights ago. in this dream, i found myself drunk from beer and booze, and smoking pot. i found myself wondering what i was doing, and how this would affect my next urine analysis. i convinced myself that i could just tell them the pot was for medicinal purposes, and just not answer about the alcohol. i was so angry at what i was doing, and could NOT figure out why i was so wasted and stoned. (not to mention having to return and re earn my sobriety chips.)

so i wake up and start thinking about things, upset that i had to deal with this crap again, and dreading the hangover. i got up and stretched and realized i didnt have a hangover, and didnt recognize my surroundings form the night before. then my AHA moment, IT WAS JUST A BAD DREAM!!

LOL, i laughed so hard to be so relieved that none of it happened. gave me something to think about and a very positive reminder of why i dont need to do those kinds of things.

I hope this experience relates to someone that it can be useful to.

While I have never had a "drunk dream" I have heard plenty of stories of people in AA who have had them. They can be very frightening and very real. Be grateful it is a dream, and not reality. Get to meeting and share what happened. Examine your steps and see if you need to tweak any of them.

I've had those dreams, Hotsauce. The last one was around a year and half, best I remember. As Christians, we have an intelligent enemy as well as the internal enemy of our own alcoholism resident in our bodies. Could be the dreams are a result of both.

My last dream was similar to what you described. After much prayer, I felt it was a reminder to me, allowed by God, that I will always be alcoholic; and that this will always be a weakness. One to be on guard against.

Scripture encourages us to always "be watchful." I took the dreams as a kind and harmless reminder from God to do so. The enemy designed it to be something my mind would obsess with, and eventually lead me to drink. God allowed it as a harmless reminder.
