In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I need some help. I'm having a hard time figuring out how to study. I am a senior in college and I still don't know how to study. Please help me. I like prayers, but I need some help too. I need books and stuff that will tell me how to do it right. I want to do good really bad, and this stuff is driving me crazy. Please help.

k............. I'm in grade 10 & I'm not sure if my style of studying really is a good one (I often don't remember stuff for too long but that could just be cause of my brain or cause it's often like I'm learning like one time before a test or anything.)
maybe stuff like reading your stuff, making a summary of the most important points, reading it 'a few' times...... and uhh ya know trying to recall the most most important points like you have duck, spider & giraffe one your paper, read the stuff, cover the paper and try to say the names.

so for learning for a loner period of time it'd prolly be good to like read/ try to recall the list with the most most important stuff every morning...or something similar. Read the summary everyday......

It feels like a jumbled mess sometimes. I just got away from a bad semester(and major) of math and math-based sciences. *blargh* It's hard to really take worthwhile notes in those. But now I'm in these social and literary courses again. Don't get me wrong, I love them, but I've gotten really confused and forgotten how to study for them.(not that I was ever really a good study-er to begin with) I think the worst thing is the courses where the professor doesn't lecture from a book. Anyhoo, I think I'll try typing my notes. I've never done that before. Maybe it will help me. Thanks Cheese.

Ok, I think my major problem is something else too. I'm having a really hard time doing the work, like studying and reading and stuff. I don't know why it's so hard. It's not like I can't do it. I've been spending a lot of time on the net talking to friends. I get so lonely sometimes. I can't handle going off by myself to study. I don't want to feel alone. Sometimes I have a hard time sleeping for the same reason. I don't want to be alone. You guys keep me going. I don't have any friends anywhere else. I don't know what to do.

unm.... everyone has his/her own study pattern. Some like to study in a group, some don't.

For me.... i always study alone, studying in a group tend to be distracting (but it helps, at times, though the main reason is because i don't have anyone to study with). I like to write summaries on the chapters we're given to read, and study the notes whenever we get new stuff. When exams come, i'd write up a summary for all the available materials (usually lecture notes), so i end up having a summary for the chapters in the textbooks, and a summary for the lecture notes.

um... sounds like lots of writing, but that's the way i do it. As for you, i think you need to seriously get that thought of studying in a group away from you. It seems to be a major distraction from your studies.
