• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I am in the process of applying for graduate school. Since I have not been bothered by OCD in a while I am deciding to continue on with my plans prior to my struggling which was to become a psychologist. In my letter of intent I wrote that I would like to do a study on Clergy beliefs and knowledge of religious OCD and their competency to handle it. My goal is to put together an educational presentation which I could present to clergy which would help them learn to recognize and deal appropriatly with the issue. Please pray for this endevor.

also my desire before my struggling was to write a book. I believed that God would give me the experience and knowledge to write and through my bout with OCD I believe he has given me that. I started writing a testemony of my bout with OCD months ago and today I decided to revisit it. If anyone would like to read it then I will send it to you. it is 7 pages. any feedback would be appreciated.

please pray for all of these endevors.

I thought about writing a book also.....who knows better than one who suffers with it!!
Glad to hear you have not been struggling...and to be honest maybe a little jealous!Bad i know....but you go for it brother with your book, i would like to read your testimony....if i can help with my struggles i will!
Let me know!

Bless you, I agree this needs to be brought out in the churches...people are suffering all around us! If you belong to a huge church like i do, i can only imagine how many people we know that suffer!

Awesome news OP!
I'll be praying for you. I agree that something definitely has to be put out there to educate the clergy about these disorders. Well meaning pastors can give some pretty "off" advice to people suffering with these afflictions. The consequences can be pretty devastating depending on what is said.
Good to hear from you - most especially that you are doing so well.
God Bless,
Mitzi
