Hello my brothers and sisters under God.
I am Inzamam from Pakistan. I am here to find out more about Christianity as I am struggling to reconcile parts of my Muslim faith. The story of the prophet is sacred and holy but there are some aspects that make me uncomfortable like his keeping of an under age wife. How would a Christian get to grips with such a problem?
Thank you kindly.
Your friend, Inzamam
Marrying off a little girl much younger than this does seem irreconcilable to me, and to most people, I imagine. From what I have read, Muhammad married a six year old child, and had sex with her when she was nine. This is immoral in every way.
Fortunately, Christianity doesn't have a hero of our faith that married someone as young as Aisha. I therefore haven't had to struggle with a question like this.Hello my brothers and sisters under God.

In the Roman Empire, it was illegal to marry a girl younger than 12. Marriages could be arranged before then, and were often arranged years before that age. Nevertheless, even with these years of pre-planning, marriage normally happened in the teenage years for affluent families, and closer to 20 for common farmers and such. By contrast, Aisha was around 9 when Mohammed allegedly consummated his relationship with her, IIRC.In the first centuries of Christian era, up to the early Middle Ages, child marriages, marriages between clergy and children, as well as between clergy and adult women (when one was considered an adult at the age of 10) were as normal as a breakfast at Burger King today.
Celibacy was not established until the 4th century, but no one from the clergy, whether priests or popes, adhered to it. They had open and secret wives, concubines and catamites available in the clergy.
Double standards have always been a unique selling point in the Catholic Church.
