• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Still taking a break but I want to share what I have researched....

Jim, I agree with absolutely all you've said...only you've said it much better than I could!

I am without a doubt with conservative veiws but try to give grace to those who don't have the same veiws.

Thank you.

I will still fellowship and debate with my Christian brethren even though I may not agree with their beliefs. Grace is about loving other people that we have the freedom to do so but at the same time, respect how they practice their beliefs. I just let God handle their beliefs that I disagree with.

Amen Jim. I look forward to many respectful disagreements with you, and I hope that we'll also find much to agree on too. God bless you brother, thank you for bringing your gift of wisdom and clarity to us.

I can't speak for anyone else, but if that post is at all typical of you, I'm going to love having you around. That was delightful!

The main reservation I have to the idea that a Moderate is really a Conservative with good manners and a calm disposition is that there is nothing in Conservatism that requires anyone to be ill tempered and/or prickly...and most of them are neither.

Maybe what this forum is, then, is a forum for people who don't care too much for labels.

"As a moderate Christian, a person desires to be well-balanced, calm, careful, steady, and sane."

That's a Christian who behaves with moderation, that's all. Not a "Moderate Christian."

That works for me!

We'll decide on a better name soon. Of course God's love for us is not moderate, and our love for Him shouldn't be either! But what we should be is loving to each other, and not contentious or argumentative. I think we're off to a good start on that here.
