Still no UKIP option on Christian Forums

There is still no UKIP (United Kingdom Independence Party) option for UK political parties. They are now the biggest political party from the UK in the EU Parliament. They are also now the third biggest political party in the UK having over taken the Lib-Dems three years ago and consistently poll around 20%. In local elections they have taken 20 to 35% of the vote. They have come first in many areas and second in many other severely damaging all the establishment parties.

Is it not time that Christian Forums finally consider this repeat request I have made for the last 4 to 5 years for a UKIP option for the UK? Not having such an option is equivalent to not allowing a Libertarian option for the US and only allowing forum members to select Republican or Democrat as their options.

It seems to me that changes move very slowly on Christian Forums or it is run by people who dislike Kippers.

Ukip are a protest party, is all. The protest might work though - force the conservatives out of Europe.. much needed in my opinion.

I want to get out of the EU as much as the next guy, but UKIP just aren't worth it for that option.

Their other policies are ridiculous.

Have you seen how much they want to increase defence spending by? They want to buy something like 90 new ships for the Navy as well. Absolutely nuts.

If they win in the General then I'm moving abroad sooner than planned.

If UKIP gets more seats in the UK parliament than the Lib Dems, then I'll agree they are the third party.

They'd never win the general - but they are useful as a pressure group against the unelected gang running the EU - I do wonder who the cons are going to coalition with next - as the libs are so unpopular and opposed to everything con stand for, me thinks - they might team with ukip but ukip are tarnished with nambyism - understandable tho - nambyism.

Considering the Daily Mail is the most popular 'news' paper and source in the UK, I wouldn't rule them out of the general just yet.

If Cameron wasn't a hypocrite, I'd have voted for him. Heck, I might vote for him just to lean on the side of caution this time around.

Personally, I think if UKIP did end up in a coalition, it would be with Labour...though I think a coalition between the Libdem and Labour and a Labour government(minority or majority) are all more likely.

I'll probably be voting Libdem or Green depending on how many stupid things the Libdems put in their platform and my local MP says...looks to be at least a few platform-wise.*sigh*

I'm the same; I'll probably be voting Lib Dem or Green... depending on what I think of the Greens, and the likelihood of my vote mattering.

I agree that Cameron is a hypocrite - and totally locked into the establishment - that's why its all bluff about Europe with him.
But he's not as bad as 'yo Blare' was.
I wouldn't vote for any of them - maybe ukip just to stir it up - doesn't matter who you vote for - but then, let's keep those retched socialists out - lesser of two evils.

Irrespective of one's views of UKIP, there should now be a UKIP option. I see that the UK doesn't even have the option of 'other' unlike the USA and Canada. However, this is an American dominated site, so we're doing well to have any UK parties listed! Shouldn't there be an SNP option? And what about NI? These should come before UKIP.

I suppose a British site could be criticized for not having an option for David Duke supporters. Even though many Americans think he is off the wall.

A lot of British people think UKIP is off the wall. Though maybe different from David Duke.

UKIP wants to i) double the size of the military; ii) withdraw from overseas conflicts.

But they won't seem to answer the question of who, then, would a military, doubled in size, be fighting?

But, yes, fair game: UKIP can express its views like everyone else.

Prime Minister Cameron's recent stunt against EU Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker can be interpreted as partly because his backyard supporters appreciate such gestures, and partly because UKIP is hollering in the background even more loudly than Prime Minister Cameron's backyard supporters.

It doesn't prove, however, that either i) Prime Minister Cameron actually thought his stunt would work, or ii) UKIP is realistic.

But, hey, this is what discussing issues is all about.

I don't agree with David Cameron often but he is right when he describes UKIP as closet racists.

Well, he would say that, wouldn't he?

It doesn't prove or disprove the charge, though.

When it suits them, Mr Cameron and Mr Juncker will doubtless talk and deal to their mutual advantage.

For instance, if Mr Cameron wants the Conservatives to be almost permanently in government after a Yes referendum vote for Scottish independence, he and Mr Jucker - for different reasons - are likely to agree strongly that for Scottish separatists to use the Euro would be a good idea.

UKIP is likely to have a rhetorical field day. They can criticize the Euro and the EU all they like, without having the responsibility of governing and figuring what to say in private to Mr Juncker.

....but in the unlikely event of UKIP getting into government, they would probably do an Ian Paisley: after excoriating certain people for years and years, do a deal with them and then find that they have cut from beneath them their whole raison-d'etre.

Remember Jimmy Goldsmith's Referendum Party: in the UK he talked free trade; in France he talked protectionism.

The Farage guy from UKIP reminds me of Menachem Begin.

Begin wanted:

1) Golan

2) Jerusalem

3) West Bank

4) Gaza

5) Sinai

and, yes, wait for it:

6) Peace.

Whether 1), 2), 3), 4), 5) logically link in with 6), is another matter. The treaty between him and Sadat didn't necessarily relate to Begin's electoral rhetoric.

As far as I can figure, the Farage fellow from UKIP wants:

1) tax cuts (who doesn't?)

2) A huge increase in defence spending

3) Get out of EU

4) A deathly silence on world and Commonwealth trade routes replaced by the EU.

Etc., etc.

If he sees the internal logic between all his points, not everyone does. Not even those attracted on the surface by his rhetoric.

My best guess would be, if he or his UKIP colleagues entered government, they would probably end up doing some of the following:

1) Be complicit in putting up taxes;

2) Keeping defence spending at present levels or even cutting it;

3) Stay in EU;

4) Make statements from time to time like Canada's Diefenbaker about a policy to shift trade patterns hugely from one Hemisphere to another, and the media would have another good joke.
